What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)
BlrwestSiR replied to Martinnfb's topic in Modelling Discussion
That's what happens when they make a face and the tablet doesn't recognize them. Edward has broken 3 tablets so far, 2 of them were mine. Ended up getting a cheap Samsung with a ridiculously thick silicone bumper case and he's been fine since. -
It's the Special Hobby kit without the PE and resin bits. So possibly a bit challenging and the nose shape is off. Barracuda cast make a resin correction for the nose. Carl

Wow Tom, you actually make it look easy. Which it isn't but still. What are you going to use for the burner cans? Carl -

Looks great there John. Yeah, those splitter plates are quite the PITA aren't they? Carl -

The paint looks great there Rob. The pre-shading definitely provides a nice accent and helps break things up. AK Real Colors do thin and spray nicely. Carl -

John, you always do a great job with seats and in particular, seat belts. Whether they're PE, fabric, plastic (still don't know what witchcraft you use with the Finemolds one) or moulded on, they look fantastic. Carl -
Peter, it's actually 4. 2 HK Lancs and 2 Border Lancs.!!! The big issue is figuring out where to put them all when there done.

Thanks guys. It's been relaxing just sticking stuff together and knowing it'll fit. Small update for the moment. The kit has a representation of the corridor at the top of the ramp. I used cream white and a brown wash to reflect the lived in look the interior had. All you'll really see of it at the top of the ramp.

Just got back from the past office. The remaining bits of the Border Lanc have arrived. Thankfully it's all in one box. It seems that Sprue Brothers took the clear bits out and sent them separately to prevent/minimize any damage. So that worked. Thanks to our fearless leader @Clunkmeister for the kit. Now to find shelf space for it and the one I got earlier from my sons. Talk about first world problems.

Looks like an impressive camera Rob. Carl

It's been a busy week and I haven't had much time at the bench until last night. I finished up the maintenance wells and added all the small details to them. I then added the sidewalls to the mandibles. These were then assembled. Possibly the biggest challenge painting in sub-assemblies is making sure the paint job looks uniform across the model. They look to be a decent match to me. Hopefully more progress this weekend.

I don't mind some restomods but they're usually on the mild side. Look close to stock but with updated mechanical bits where it's important: brakes, suspension, a/c (?). Scott's Mustang sounds just about right to me. Meanwhile I just found one of my bucket list cars for sale. It's a 2007 Mugen Civic Type RR. Mind you they want $106K for it so I'm passing. Carl

No pics but I got a box of clear parts for the Border Lanc. They're presumably for the one I won in the LSM raffle a while back. Ernie thinks Sprue Bros is sending the kit out as individual sprues...making it like one of those monthly subscription kits.

Those headphones are going to a big piece of cargo. The detail on everything otherwise is pretty impressive. Carl

Last fall I was doing the winter tire changeover when I picked up a tire the wrong way. Doubled over in absolute agony. I was stuck there in the garage bent over leaning on the tire I had tried to lift. I couldn't call Sue as my phone was in the car which was outside and I was in the garage. After about 15 minutes like that a neighbour happened to be walking by in the laneway. I asked him to call Sue out to give me a hand into the house. I couldn't move for the rest of the day. The next morning Sue booked me into a local chiropractic/physiotherapy clinic. The chiropractor got my back straightened out so I could actually stand upright and walk out. Wasn't 100% but after some stretches (as Gary said, they do work) and a follow up visit, I was more or less back to normal. I still try to watch how I move my back and lift things but once in a while I do something stupid and sometimes pay the price. Carl

Happy Thanksgiving to all my other US friends!

Happy Thanksgiving folks! -
Dropped in to visit a friend from the U.S. and he brought me a gift. Something most '80s sci-fi fans should recognize: Sure the colours may be a bit off but still.

What? Not 37"?? Or would that have been overkill?
