  1. So it seems that whenever my wife is home for one reason or another I get a huge package in the mail. Today it was because our oldest was home sick from school so she decided to stay with him and work from home. As if on cue, after waiting 3 months this showed up: With this in the same box: Now to find RCAF decals for both. Carl
  2. Well, if it's 1/48 then at least you won't have to scratch build the Sea King. You're almost there.
  3. Tony, I had the artwork and sent it in as a PDF scan.
  4. Or an RCN Iroquois class. Speaking of 1/72 scale, here's one on my bench at the moment. Just need to stay on target.
  5. Try DN Models for masks. They've done a couple sets for me and I've been happy with their work. Carl
  6. Definitely looks like Stalin's revenge there Ernie. 1/72 is good for sci-fi kits and stuff for my boys to build. Maybe capital ship models too. As for worse fitting kit I've had the (dis)pleasure of working on, that would be the Trumpeter 1/32 Mig-15. Still don't know how guys get that together. Carl
  7. Great to hear from you Martin! We've been missing our squirrel fix. Carl
  8. Vallejo, Lifecolor, Xtracrylix do not play well with either Mr Color thinners, or Tamiya lacquer thinner. The times I've tried, I get a gooey mess like Hubert and Rob have stated above. For those, I use their respective thinners or just plain water. One brand not mentioned much is Tru Color which is from the US. Their paint works very well with Mr Color Thinner. http://trucolorpaint.com/
  9. Congrats on the Lanc Ernie! Tony, that's a fantastic build of the Corsair. Carl
  10. Great photos of some great looking models Ernie. Thanks for sharing them. Carl
  11. Dale, I use Mr Color levelling thinner with the AK paints so you won't need to get their thinner. Carl
  12. Just don't light a match near it! Or breath on any candles.
  13. They're not. They're about the same consistency as Mr Color. I use Mr Color Leveling Thinner to thin them about 50/50. The dull dark green on my Kingfisher interior is from them. Carl
  14. Nothing huge but I did get some paint sets for a few hopefully upcoming projects. Carl
  15. Ernie, I've used two kinds. One called UV Gel from Gaianotes out of Japan. It works really well but is expensive for what you get. The other is Bondic UV . You can get that at Crappy Tire here so should be readily available in the US. If you can' t get it, let me know and I'll include a tube with your package.
  16. Ron, it will take paint and would probably work ok for knobs.
  17. That's a great story there Ernie. Can't wait to see your build.
  18. Something like this? That's the one I did for my Spitfire TD248
  19. The bulkhead looks great Ryan! I'm glad I could help out Carl
  20. That's so awesome of you Dale! Having two boys of my own I know exactly what you mean about kids and their birthdays. Carl
  21. I don't drink coffee. I've always found it too bitter unless it's 1/2 milk and 4 spoons of sugar. Then I can drink it in desperation. My wife on the other hand, loves coffee. I'm always finding new ways for her to torture me by making it. Whether it's by getting her a new French press, or a cold brew thingy I'm always looking for something.
  22. Ernie, have you tried any of the clear UV glues for making the lights? They're viscous enough to form into a shape and not run from where you place them on the model. I've used them a few time for formation lights.
  23. Here you go Jeff! My wife, who's primarily vegetarian even had some.
  24. Ok, all this talk of food made me hungry so I threw this on a couple hours ago. It's half a brisket as there's no way I was going to get through 18lbs on my own. Here's where it stands now that I've got the boys back from school. Still has a couple hours to go. You're all welcome to come over and have some.
  25. That's funny! Not the barking bit, but the love for Spam and all its variations. We didn't have Spam growing up, instead it was called Klik. Can't recall enough if I truly liked it or it was just, lunch. Anyways, I like haggis (even before the Scottish in-laws) so who am I to comment on people's tastes in food. Carl
