  1. That's the one. I had so much trouble trying to use CA I tried to solder things. Which only made it worse. I may still have a piece or two of it around.
  2. Thanks guys! I'm glad to be making some serious progress on this.
  3. Ok, I couldn't wait and sprayed the light grey. And of course had to peel the masks off and see what it looked like All the Tiger stripe masks on a sheet of waxed paper in case I need them. There's not as much touch up needed as I thought there would be. Which is good news. I still have to do the wings and the tailplanes but this is quite a bit of progress.
  4. Ok, time for some paint to fly. I started by painting the canopy section in black. After masking off the clear sections first. Then I painted the fuselage with Gunship Grey. This sort of reminded me of F6 Lightnings in their final camo scheme. Now the fun began. I used the Tiger Meet masksade by DN Models. They give you a nice reference sheet so you know where everything goes. Once I had the Tiger stripes on both sides, I masked off the remaining areas with tape. Due to all the various bumps and lumps on the fuselage, I'm expecting to have some overstay and touch up being required.
  5. I think I had the same kit. And binned it too after all the PE work went pear shaped. Or at least an origami folded pear shape.
  6. Ok, admit it. You've managed to invent a shrink ray. Truly awesome work there. Carl
  7. Looks really good Martin. I can't wait to see the base.
  8. I've got a love/hate relationship with PE bits. Sometimes it's fine and other times I want to know why I even bothered. Which is why I gave up on the Part PE set for my Mi-24 build. I also hate when they're glued in place only to have them break off and go flying into the ether. For PE belts, the new Eduard Steel ones aren't bad. They're much more flexible compared to the brass ones but they can still peel off. Plus they're only painted on one side. Otherwise I'm much happier with the fabric belts either from Wako or HGW. The Wako buckles are even laid out to allow you to thread the belts through while they're still attached to the fret. Carl
  9. Come on in! The water's fine!!!
  10. This will be fun to watch. I built the AFV Club release as an ROCAF plane a few years ago. I've got this one started on my bench. Well, the tail anyways...
  11. I'm glad it got to you Ernie. I thought it would go perfectly with your current project. Carl
  12. Thanks Ernie! Finding the "missing parts" was really the incentive I needed to get back to working on this. Plus I promised Harv I'd get out my F-4G conversion once this was done.
  13. Thanks Rob! I was worried that if I masked the canopy first, the masking might wick up the Tamiya Extra Thin cement I was using. Which would have definitely ruined my day. With the glue dry, I'll be masking the off next before I do any sanding work needed.
  14. The canopy is on the fuselage now. I had a slight misalignment issue with the canopy from side to side. The coaming I made for the pilot's IP was a bit too big and was pushing the canopy to one side. I sanded it down as much as I dared and then glued one side of the canopy on and then the other. I still had a small gap in places so I filled it with melted sprue. I had to be careful not to get it on the clear parts.
  15. It's starting to get that bug eyed look.
  16. Happy birthday Martin! Wait, I'm older than you?!!?!!!! How did that happen?
  17. Happy birthday Martin!
  18. Looks like all that texting paid off. Carl
  19. I was trying to figure out where I'd seen that plane. Turns out it was one of the planes Eric "Winkle" Brown flew. He used it as his personal transport while looking for other German aircraft.
  20. Great job Sofia and Martin! It's not always easy to get kids into this hobby but making it fun certainly helps. My youngest Edward is heavily into dinosaur models but I'll see if I get him to try one of these. Carl
  21. Great review Rob. I need to get a couple of these. Carl
  22. Really nice paintwork, especially the pilot. I usually skip crew figures as they're a weak spot for me. Carl
  23. Got this recently. As I'm reading it, I have the soundtrack from the film in my head.
  24. Ah, the slippery slope of Sherman variants... Me, I mostly stick to ones with 17 pdrs.
  25. The RC version? That would be fun.
