  1. Yes, sadly he's still around giving Canadians a bad name.
  2. Got a haircut today. I no longer like one of the Beatles or worse, Justin Bieber. I think my bike helmet will fit as a result too. Carl
  3. Thanks Martin! Those pics make a lot more sense of things.
  4. Nice sign there Harv! Isn't it great when the spouse supports our hobbies and interests? Carl
  5. My mom bought a new 2018 Civic hatch at the end of last year. She had two big wants on her wish list: 1) It must have a key to turn to start. When the saleswoman said they only had the base model left in stock but it had an ignition key, my mom that was perfectly fine with her. 2) It needs to have a CD player. Not as big a deal as #1, and when the saleswoman sat down and showed my mom how to use her Iphone 8 for all her music instead the deal was closed. Jeff, I've been using some of the Autoglym stuff myself over the last couple of years. It does seem to do a nice job. They've also got some products other companies don't seem to offer which is nice. When it comes to electric cars, we're still a bit on the fence. 90% of our driving is less than 15km each way and a further 5% is within 120km. On top of that, we drive maybe 9,000km a year. We even have 220v in our garage for a fast charger. So they're a very viable option for us. But, this is Canada and there's this weather phenomena called winter that happens for half the year. The cold kills the range on batteries, especially if you want to be warm in your car. Most of these range tests are done in warm places. I've only read one testdrive/review that was done in winter in Canada. The range was roughly half what the optimal distance is. So I think we may be waiting a bit longer. Carl
  6. Man, I have a love/hate relationship with doctors so something like this just adds to the wrong side of the ledger. Sorry to hear you're still waiting for something more definitive but at least your doc seems to be on your side. Hang in and here's looking forward to a delayed but positive answer. Carl
  7. Thanks for all the tips and advice on this build Jim. You really do make it look like a walk in the park. Carl
  8. I'll make sure to post something once they start on them.
  9. I think I've got the youngest interested. He was upset he couldn't pick up a kit at the hobby shop the last time we were there. I told him to finish one of the kits he'd already started first. I know I was irresponsible since how else is he supposed to build a stash up.
  10. Great progress Harv! Reminds me of a Meccano set on its legs like that. Carl
  11. Thanks! It's my second try at a NMF finish in 1/32. The first one isn't finished yet... Thanks Ryan. I'm using Gunze Mr Metal Color chrome silver. So far, I'm much happier with this, at least on the B-25. The coverage is much better compared to the Alclad.
  12. Well, looks like I'm going to have less space on my bench as the Mossies from Martin have arrived. The boys were helping me in the kitchen after school today so they'll get them tomorrow and then the plastic can start to fly! Thanks again Martin for the great gift. Carl
  13. I was wondering about that. The instructions just show one buckle just right against the seat so thanks for the heads up.
  14. Well, I am learning from the best here
  15. Indeed. Great to hear about the personal connection Ernie. Carl
  16. Ok, finally an update. I painted the fuselage but had a hard time getting decent coverage with the Alcad. So I gave up on using it and switched to Mr Metal Color that I had. That worked out much better. The wings need a bit of seam filling so they're back on the bench and hopefully that won't too painful. Carl
  17. Thanks! I'm glad you found it.
  18. Well, March break ended up with more adult supervision that I had hoped for. I guess you just can't leave your boys outside all day and hope for the best. In my typical non linear style, I started work on the rocket pods. To improve the kit ones a bit, I drilled out the tubes with progressively larger bits until the walls were more suitably thin. Then, in probably a bad idea moment, I'd decided to use the Part PE set for the cockpit. So much for OOB...and of course Fur the cat came down for her visit. One nice thing about the Part stuff is they're not prepainted so no worries about matching colours. The bad thing is the number of parts. Rather than try to sand off and smooth out the kit cockpit panel, I just made a new one from sheet styrene. With a cat less in the way... Here's where I am at the moment. Each panel is made up of two to three layers to get the multicoloured end result. So that's probably around 20 very tiny bits of PE. Like I said, maybe a bad idea for a quick build. Carl
  19. Thanks Rob! The Uhu fuselage is somewhere in there too. The Eduard set looks nice too. Probably more manageable size wise. Peter, John is on another level. The only person I know faster was Russ from LSP.
  20. Thanks! I've always liked the different tiger stripe paint schemes, especially the low vis ones. I've got a CF-18 to do soon and possibly a Mig-29UB as well. Thanks Martin! Your dog?
  21. Really cool looking Gaz! Carl
  22. Guess what's made it back onto the bench? Yup, a big ol' pile of wings. I'm not going to make the deadline for the HK group build but really should try to get something finished. Carl
  23. Amazing wood effects there Ryan! And thanks for explaining your technique too. Carl
  24. Thanks for noting the differences between the two kits. I've managed to get a G-6 kit ordered. Oddly, Australia was the cheapest I found, even with shipping to Canada. Carl
