  1. So, onto construction! I started with the engines. I'm only building what's needed to support the intakes and exhausts and prevent a see through effect. Then I assembled the cabin.
  2. I think I did a little while ago. I've got the Kingfisher in a tub at the moment. It looks like an order of fries from McDonald's with the wings and fuselage sticking out.
  3. As we're into the first weekend of March Break here in Canada, I've got a bit of time on my hands. So rather than do the logical thing and work on something already on my bench, I started something new. I've been in correspondence with Mitko from DN Models about some custom masks for another project so that sort of planted the idea for this build. I decided to do the kit pretty much OOB and closed up. I won't try to fix the twist that the engine box has in real life. It'll be more about the tiger stripes. One thing that stalled this hitting the bench was the ResKit rocket pods I ordered. They're really nicely done but due to their lacquer of protection in the package came with many of the tubes broken. So I'm going to skip them and the Part PE set and just use the wheels and Master gun barrel.
  4. Fantastic build and paint job. I'm just catching up with it now. Paint masks really are the way to go in this scale. They can take a bit more prep sometimes but I feel it's usually worth it. Carl
  5. For radios, the guy that made the ones you used on the B-25 has some. Might be worth checking out. Carl
  6. I'm surprised I don't have cat fur in mine since our cat has taken to sitting in my lap these days when I'm at the bench. Harv, I think that wind storm has arrived here. Our trees are blowing all over the place.
  7. Can't wait to see you start on this one. Carl
  8. That's the way I remember her. Complete with the Easy Eight Sherman we'd climb all over.
  9. Great links there Jeff. Really brings back memories of playing underneath it when it was on the lakefront here in Toronto. Carl
  10. Okay, I finished drilling all the needed holes and added the PE bits to the ribs. Complete PITA as you have to thread the blast tubes through them as well. But it's done and they do make a difference in the appearance.
  11. Looks like I'm going to HeritageCon in two weeks and since it's held at CWHM I'll see if I can get pics of their Lanc. Anything specific you need pics of Ernie? Carl
  12. Thankfully my bench wasn't that bad. It seems I left it in the open B-25 box next to my bench. So I found it after looking in there. It's a single action brush so I'm hoping it'll work nicely for doing tight squiggles. The compact size should help too. Carl
  13. One more for now. The PE set includes some bits to add detail to the ribs in the gun bay. But you have to drill out the lightening holes. So that's next.
  14. Thanks Martin! I'm hoping that I can make it removable after completion. One other thing replacing the tubes does is it lets you clean up the mould seams as they're a bit heavy and were somewhat inaccessible.
  15. So first step is to cut out the existing tubes. Then you have to drill through the bulkheads. I started with a 1mm drill bit and moved up to progressively larger bits until I reached the correct diameter. I did a quick test fit. You can see the difference in length on the centre tube.
  16. The plastic ones aren't bad but there's a cutout near the tip so they're not completely circular. The inner ones also don't extend all the way back to the gun bodies themselves so that's the other issue. They stop halfway.
  17. Okay, got a bit more done. I installed the gear bays bits I previously painted and started on the nacelle halves. From there, I started on the belly pack for the guns. I have the brass barrel upgrade set from ZM but it's a bit of a challenge to fit. This is the stock kit part. Here are the replacement blast tubes for the belly pack as well as the wing guns.
  18. Well, I got a new airbrush. Only thing is I can't find where I put it after taking it out of the box. My bench can't be that badly cluttered.... Carl
  19. Thanks Ryan and Gaz!
  20. Thanks Bill! This is my second ZM kit to make it to the bench. The first was their A-1H and I enjoyed building it. I did leave out a bit of the interior details that would never be seen. Thanks! I've only managed to finish one so far this year. But it's the third one I've started.
  21. I just checked my copy of Schiffer's "B-25 Mitchell: the Ultimate Look". It lists that the Marines did have the J but not whether they had a glass or gun nose unfortunately. Carl
  22. Ron, I don't know if the Marines used the gun nose J or not. Kitsworld does a number of decal sheets that are warbirds or movie ones. They don't always label them clearly though. As for if the Marines had gun nose J's, this book might be able to shed some light on it. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F121870118097 Maybe Ernie can chime in with what info he has. Carl
  23. Ernie, it's not just the traffic but the drivers too. They're all "me first!" in their mentality behind the wheel. It's not fun at all to drive in the GTA anymore. One other reason she's thinking of Barrie is there's a commuter train that goes downtown and then she's a 3 minute subway ride from the station to her office. So she could read or knit on the train ride at least. If she had to drive, it wouldn't be on the table. I remember when I'd drive 50,000 Kms in a year, never mind miles. I also remember the leasing company looking at me and telling me the mileage penalty was more than the buyout. So we sold the car privately and they gave us the difference.
  24. Small bit of progress. Mostly painting the moulded on wires and plumbing. I envy you guys who can do this so neatly. There's a bunch of touch-ups here. These are some of the rear fuselage's internal details that will be visible from the mechanic's window. That's it for the moment.
  25. More like on a roll so just want to keep going. Plus once summer rolls around I won't have as much bench time.
