What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)
BlrwestSiR replied to Martinnfb's topic in Modelling Discussion
Not much but got it in the mail and couldn't wait. -
That's pretty neat Ryan. Speaking of carpet monsters, I was at the bench and dropped a small part. It landed on my cat so I had to grab it before she took off. Carl

It's the clipped wing, er crust cut off variant.

I bought the Model Factory Hiro 1/24 McLaren F1 GTR car kit a few years ago. It's resin, white metal, PE, turned aluminum, even vac form. I got scared at the idea of building it when I saw there were spring retention clips for the exhaust system. So instead I figured like most of you bigger is better and picked up their 1/12 Porsche 956 LeMans winner. Then I found separate brake calipers, pads and pad retention clips.... I'm still working my courage up to start it.

Ernie, the sad thing is I do have shelves and drawers for most of that stuff. There's 6 paint racks, numerous small bins for AM and supplies, a wooden wine case for more paint, a rolling drawer unit...etc. Stuff just doesn't make it back to where it's supposed to go. Now with my sons "borrowing" tools and paints, it's probably only going to get worse.
-
Here's my bench currently: In the far corner is a Tamiya Spitfire IX and a T-Rex There's also wings for a pair of HK B-25s. Beside that part of my bench is a drawer unit where the B-25 fuselages are, along with the LCM and a ZM He-219. Next to that is this pile: Not really sure what's there. The stuff on the cutting mat is what my sons are working on. Finally, the other side of my space. So yeah, way too much stuff started...oh look a squirrel!
-
So is mine. Don't know how I find the stuff I'm actually working on. I'd have to change to "basement of doom" since they're not exactly on a shelf. Since they don't make a shelf big enough

I'm with Ryan on this. Leave'em be. Carl

The narrowed seat look so much better. Carl -
Jeff, let me check my LHS later this week for you and see if they have them.
-
Jeff, I think Lee Valley carries them. Not sure if these are the same ones. http://www.leevalley.com/en/Wood/page.aspx?p=20187&cat=1,42500 Carl

GUY ON A BUFFALO - I will be out for a while.
BlrwestSiR replied to Martinnfb's topic in General Discussion
We'll all be here when you get back Martin. Watch out for those buffalo eating squirrels while you're out there! Carl -
Like others have said, we've all been there at some point. Sometimes it's the particular build, other times it's the subject in general. My B-25 builds are stalled out at the moment and have been for a few months now. I've been mostly building armour this year and just got back to a CT-133 I started I don't know how many years ago. Hopefully I make it through that. Switching it up is often a great way to find motivation or renew it. As for water effects, I'll be watching what you do there as my son wants to do a diorama with water in it. Carl

The seat looks like it would fit Andre the Giant nicely. I don't mind the jumping around as I do the same on my builds. Carl -

The Avionix set is a rebox of the True Details one from my understanding so that's good to know. Aires does a C cockpit but it has parts for the A 'pit as well (just the one panel). No idea on the fit quality or lack there. Wolfpack does one too as you know. The CF-18 version won't be too different from the Aussie one which is one of the reasons we're buying them from Australia. For the Kinetic Hawk, there are specific PE sets for the Aussie cockpits which makes things easier.. -
There's lots of stuff that people would love to see in plastic. Everyone has their own particular interests. I mean I'm still waiting for a 1/32 CF-100 (as would Ernie I'm sure). I would even settle for a 1/32 CF-105. It's not that much bigger after all. That being said, the manufacturers have to make what they can pretty much guarantee will sell. The guys running them have their own favorite subjects too I'm sure. Sometimes it's the kit that draws you in too. I never had the biggest interest in the Spitfire model wise until the Tamiya 1/32 kits came out. I've now built 8 of them, with #9 on the bench and two more in the stash. Carl

Finishing the Fisher AD-5W Guppy.
BlrwestSiR replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
What a great idea Ernie! I've got a couple Fisher kits in the stash so may just join you down the road. I've got: - Sea Fury - X-1A - Twogar Plus both of the Crusader conversions. For the Twogar, mine had the intake lips broken off and lost to the ether. I asked Paul if I could buy a replacement lower wing from him. Turned out that this was a fairly common occurrence and he had a mould for just the intake lips. He cast up a pair and sent them out the week before the fire. Unfortunately Canada Post then went on strike and they never showed up.... Carl -

The original release does, along with SAC soft metal landing gear (not recommended that you use those). This is the one I have. Carl -

Rog, I've got the Kinetic kit with the correct tails and resin intakes and burner cans for sale at the moment. Big question would be shipping to Australia from Canada. If you want to PM me I can try and get an estimate for you. Carl
