I got a bit more done tonight. I sprayed a flat coat over the decals. Looks like they were able to confirm to the surface nicely. I then installed the periscopes into the roof. The roof up to now wasn't glued, nor was the main gun. I then started the weathering process with an application of brown panel line wash. Once dry, I'll do some dry brushing.

Thanks Gaz! Thanks Ryan!

I haven't tried using filters before but I will use a wash on it. Especially with the surface texture thanks to the zimmerit. The Sherman isn't that small thankfully.

Great progress there Martin. Can't wait to see you work on the base. -
Harv, the bench will be there when you're up to it. That Horten conversion is not the easiest beast to wrangle. I really wish they had done it in plastic and not resin. Carl

Heathens! But alas they are kids and know not what they're missing -

Those mirror mounts are much better Martin. Probably stronger too. -
Asuka/Tasca Sherman III

Girls und Panzer is a Japanese anime series. All I know is that instead of the usual collegiate sports like basketball, it's tank on tank combat. How the teams aren't killed is beyond me. -

If that was in Tokyo, you'd have enough to buy a new car at least. -

Martin and Phil, this is a rebox of the Tasca VC kit. https://hlj.com/1-35-scale-girls-und-panzer-der-film-sherman-firefly-saunders-university-high-school-plzgp-36 You just need to find more appropriate decals and it's cheaper than the regular boxing at the moment. -

Ok, spoke too soon. It seems they've sold out since I checked on the weekend. -

Martin, I'm having fun at the moment so I'm going with it. Tasca are the best Shermans on the market in my opinion. Lucky Model has the Firefly Vc on sale at the moment with an extra 20% on top. I'm tempted to grab another but my favourite is the hybrid 1c. -

I let my boys play hookey from school this morning and go see the celebratory parade for the Toronto Raptors winning the NBA championship. After all, a Toronto sports team winning a title, nevermind championship is almost a once in a lifetime event. So when we got back, I started on the Sherman with the lower hull. It's the standard flat pack format Tasca uses. And builds up without any issues. Next up are the wheels for the boogies. That's it for the moment. -
As I'm nearing the end of my Jagdpanther build, I thought about what I should try next. I had a couple ideas batting around before settling on this one. There hasn't been too much allied stuff in this GB so I figured I might as well. Plus it comes with D-Day markings in the box. They're in there somewhere...
-
I shot a clear coat onto the Jagdpanther and once that had dried for a day, I applied the decals. There's not many but they do have to go over the zimmerit. The kit ones are a bit stiff so I was a bit concerned. After application I pressed on them with a cloth dipped in hot water. This made a huge difference in their conformity. We'll see once they're dry. There's also a sneak peak at my next project in the above pic.

Thanks guys! It's always nice to find new updated options for subjects. It's even better when they're less expensive too.
-
Jeff, you should get one if you can. They're usually less than $50 loonies shipped from China. Compared to what the Dragon ones go for these days, I'd say it's quite the value.

Thanks Ivan! That's what I wanted to know. Carl

Thanks Martin! Looks like I found my answers. Or at least confirmation of them. Carl

Hi folks, I was wondering about what ejection seat did the Canadian CF-104D have? I'm not sure the two seater also used the C2 seat or were they equipped with the MB ones? Also, did they have the short burner can or the longer one? Lastly, did they all come mounted on sticks like this one? just seeing if anyone's paying attention... Thanks in advance. Carl

I promised my son he could try airbrushing so after his session at the bench I got to work on the camo I used AK Real Colors for the green and brown. Once that dries, it'll be time for stickers and then a bit of weathering.

Thanks Mike! Thanks Phil! The Meng tracks aren't that fussy. I just found I could get the Rye Field ones together easier and quicker. I did end up using them for the spare track links that are stored on the hull. Thanks Kev! She is big, especially compared to a Sherman.
