  1. The canopy is on the fuselage now. I had a slight misalignment issue with the canopy from side to side. The coaming I made for the pilot's IP was a bit too big and was pushing the canopy to one side. I sanded it down as much as I dared and then glued one side of the canopy on and then the other. I still had a small gap in places so I filled it with melted sprue. I had to be careful not to get it on the clear parts.
  2. It's starting to get that bug eyed look.
  3. Happy birthday Martin! Wait, I'm older than you?!!?!!!! How did that happen?
  4. Happy birthday Martin!
  5. Looks like all that texting paid off. Carl
  6. I was trying to figure out where I'd seen that plane. Turns out it was one of the planes Eric "Winkle" Brown flew. He used it as his personal transport while looking for other German aircraft.
  7. Great job Sofia and Martin! It's not always easy to get kids into this hobby but making it fun certainly helps. My youngest Edward is heavily into dinosaur models but I'll see if I get him to try one of these. Carl
  8. Great review Rob. I need to get a couple of these. Carl
  9. Really nice paintwork, especially the pilot. I usually skip crew figures as they're a weak spot for me. Carl
  10. Got this recently. As I'm reading it, I have the soundtrack from the film in my head.
  11. Ah, the slippery slope of Sherman variants... Me, I mostly stick to ones with 17 pdrs.
  12. The RC version? That would be fun.
  13. It worked for me. I missed out on the original release of the Fine Molds 1/72 Millenium Falcon so when did they their first re-issue, I was able to grab one without a fuss. It was a bit harder to pull off when Bandai then put out their definitive version a few years later.
  14. One of the "missing" bits was the round dome on the intake. Once it was found, I installed both onto the fuselage. At this point I was checking the fit of the canopy and pilot's door. I decided to glue the door on first so that I could make sure it was flush with the fuselage. The canopy itself is nice and clear but needed a mould seam sanded off. Upon test fitting the gunner's canopy, I noticed a slight warp affecting the fit. As a result, I glued one side on and let it dry before doing the other. I need to add the interior mirrors next and then I can get the canopy in place.
  15. Thanks guys for checking in. I thought I'd lost a couple bits but it turned out they were still on the sprues. So it's the start of the summer break for my boys. I might have some more time at the bench but probably not. We'll see.
  16. Quite the shape difference in those props. I think I'm up to two Tamiya F-4 boxes worth of spare/leftover 1/32 aircraft kit parts so I'm a firm believer in keeping them as you never know when they will come in handy.
  17. I know the feeling Ryan. I was looking at the new Tamiya Achilles from Lucky and it sold out right after coming in.
  18. Martin, Ron is looking for the markings. I checked Archer but they don't have any.
  19. You say it's discontinued and if you don't grab it now, it'll cost twice as much or more in the future. There's enough truth in it....
  20. Really lovely work as always Ryan. Carl
  21. Only the two kits above. Their more recent Easy Eight kits (including the Israeli ones) are 100% Tamiya. I'm still trying to figure out why they did it. I know Tamiya has re-boxed Revell in the past and still does with Italeri (they're the Japanese distributor) but it's the first time I'd seen them repackage a Japanese brand.
  22. Nice progress. Sometimes when the tracks go together properly, it really can be therapeutic.
  23. Tasca had a name change to Asuka for some reason so they're one and the same.
  24. Here's the Firefly box: It even says it's from Asuka on it: Here's the Easy Eight:
  25. Mike, the Tamiya Firefly is the Tasca one reboxed with some Tamiya figures in it. They're really hard to find these days though. Tamiya reboxed the Firefly and the Easy Eight Shermans. They then came out with their own Easy Eight a couple years later. I've got both in the stash as they were cheaper than the Asuka boxing's at the time. Going the other way, Asuka has an M4A3 coming out with Tamiya figures. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/m/10616980
