  1. If you have them open, I think it'll work. I agree on the vac canopies lacking detail of any kind. Which is a real shame considering the detail of the base kit. Carl
  2. I've been pretty good the last few years about not starting too many at once. This time I just couldn't help myself. At the moment, I have the following on/near the bench: - 2 HK B-25 J Mitchells - Tamiya Spitfire IX - ZM He-219 - Trumpeter Mi-24V - Hasegawa FW190 A8 - Takom Leopard C2 - Bronco M24 Chaffee - Italeri LCM3 - Tamiya M51 I really just wanted something I could knock out and be done. Which is why I'm leaving out the AM. The single colour helps a long way in that regard too.
  3. This will be fun to watch. Carl
  4. Thanks Martin! There something about these upgunned Shermans that is so appealing.
  5. I then started on assembling the lower hull. I'm going to use the rubber band tracks that came with the kit for now. I can always swap them out later if it feel like I want the torture.
  6. So I started with the lower hull. Oddly, Tamiya placed all the ejector pins on the outside of the hull plates. So some putty and sanding were in order. Then it was cleanup of the seams on the numerous road wheels. I've picked up some reverse action paint clips. These grab stuff from inside versus the usual outside. Time for paint!
  7. Well it seems I have a bad case of squirrelitis as I've pulled yet another kit out of the stash and I'm, started it. The plan is to do it OOB and just get her done from start to finish. Well, that's the plan. Carl
  8. It's not my bench nor is it a bench even but here's our living room coffee table: The boys didn't want to wait for me to make space on my bench so they appropriated this instead. And immediately made it look like my bench. The Mossies from Martin are in there somewhere. Carl
  9. Sounds good Ernie. I have 8 sets here so enough for both of us.
  10. That's the one. I'm such a sucker for tiger stripes.
  11. Gus, they're very similar to the new Tamiya lacquer paints. So if you like those, you'll like the AK ones too. Carl
  12. I received my order of paint masks from DN Models. First up is a set I asked if they'd upscale to 1/32 for me so they happily did so. Supposedly they're going to add them to their catalogue soon. Now to get a kit to apply them to. Did I do that backwards? Next up was canopy masks for the HK Lancaster. Lastly was a custom set of masks for a 439Sqn CF-18 in low vis Tiger Stripes. This is a paint job I've wanted to do for years so once there's the tiniest bit of free real estate on my bench, I'll be starting this one. Carl
  13. If they're similar to the ones on the CWHM Lanc, the Tamiya Spitfire might be a good option. Their kits have round and fishtail. I've pretty much only used fishtail exhausts on my builds so I should have enough to send you a complete set if they work. Carl
  14. Glad I could help you out Martin! Carl
  15. Had a packed day yesterday going to Heritagecon at CWHM. It was my first time and I brought the boys along. I've posted some of the Lanc pics in Ernie's build thread. The boys got a bunch of free stuff. I think people were happy to see young 'uns interested in the hobby. There were some ok deals for adults and I ended up getting an Eduard 109E for $40 CAD We ended up at the LHS afterwards where I picked up a Cylon Raider. It's 1/32 so the right scale. This thing is much bigger than I expected. Here's the centre section next to a HK B-25 wing Carl
  16. Back in '93 I was leaving Tokyo and had bought a number of Airsoft guns. Security there X-rays your suitcase before you check it in. I knew mine was going to get extra scrutiny so I didn't lock it. The guard goes through it and finds a spray can. He asks me in English "Bomb?" Probably one word you don't want to hear in an airport. Anyways I say yes, he comes back with a form completely in Japanese and asks me to sign it. I do and my suitcase is good to go. Still have no idea if I signed away my first born or not. Carl
  17. It can be run through an airbrush but it needs to be thinned. Use either Tamiya lacquer thinner or one of the Mr Color ones. Carl
  18. Don't forget the Voodoo behind it. Those things were loud. And it would be seriously cool to see a Clunk flying again. I never saw them the first time around.
  19. Late to the party on this but I thought it may still be of use. I took the pic this afternoon at CWHM.
  20. Great story. Thanks for sharing it. Carl
