What a 11,391 model collection looks like
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in General Discussion
My understanding is the collection is in/near Burlington, Ontario which is 30-45 min from Toronto. Looking at some of the shop names on the price tags, that makes sense. Of course, most are long gone. It's an estate sale as the owner recently passed away. 1to1scale, I've sent you a PM with what I received in the email. Carl -

The finish looks fantastic Danny. I'll have to try a NMF one day. Carl -

The Echelon Lightning and Lodela Beaufighters caught my eye as well. The seller doesn't want the hassle of breaking it up hence the lot sale. Supposedly this collection is not far from me so if it does end up getting broken up for sale, I'm going to take the trip down. Carl -
Tamiya Spitfire IXe with ModXXX

Finally back at this one. I was waiting for seatbelts to arrive but then found one set in the stash so I was able to start up again. First up was the IP. I used a Yahu panel for this. Then it was onto the rest of the cockpit. The belts I used are from Wako, a Japanese brand. Once I get the waist belts done, I'll be ready to close the fuselage up. Carl -
I just got an email from West Coast Hobbys in BC. They're helping a client sell a collection of kits that belonged to her father. Going thru the included gallery was absolutely astounding. It's mostly smaller scale aircraft but there's a bunch of 1/32 aircraft and 1/35 armour. So much rare and OOP stuff. https://westcoasthobbys.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3f6256c2d4c390986ae8c57b8&id=8e73b5ba60&e=ba8c3d20c7 It's being sold as a single lot. So, anyone want to open a hobby shop? The sad thing is the realization that there is no way anyone could have built everything in that collection, not even if you worked at it 24/7. Carl

If you want robbery, let me tell you about a package we sent to my sister in Chile. Her youngest daughter was turning 1 so we wanted to send her a red candle shaped like the number 1. We'd used it on the birthday cake for all our kids up to that point. Postage wasn't horrid, $25 or so from Canada. It took 3 weeks instead of the guaranteed 1 week. About 2 months after it got there, we received a letter from the courier company that there were duties owed of... ...$325 CAD!!!!! On a used candle no less!!!! Plus, since they had paid the duties on our behalf, if we didn't reimburse them the bill would be sent to a colllection agency. Now we all joke that the candle is going to be an heirloom for when our kids have children. Carl -

Must not let my boys see this thread or there'd be too much crying and explaining to do -

Can you build a Mig-28 from it? You know, to keep up international relations. -

Man, that reminds me of the old comic Lobo's Paramilitary Christmas Special where the Easter Bunny puts a hit out on Santa. It's a very dark, tongue in cheek comic if you ever get the chance to read a copy. Carl -

I may have, um, done that a bit already? I think we're at the point where we may the same amount of shoes. She had way more purses though. Truthfully, my wife is actually fairly accommodating of my hobby. She's been known to banish me to my workbench for the odd weekend. It's more that I've just got too many projects on the go all at once. Probably the most ever for me. Here's my workbench at the moment. It's actually not too bad for those who know my organized chaos. But the problem is the piles behind my desk: I'm working on every kit in the pile and on the stool except for the Super 7: - 2 HK B-25J strafers - 1/32 F-16 Block 50 - 1/35 Leopard C2 - 1/35 Firefly Vc - 1/35 LCM - 1/12 McLaren MP4/6 - 1/24 Celica WRC - 1/32 Spitfire IX - 1/32 FW 190A8 - 1/35 M24 So, yeah. I need to get some of those out of the way first. Carl

rye field model 1/35 Panther Ausf.G - Cutaway Turret & Hull
BlrwestSiR replied to James H's topic in Armour/AFV Reviews
Nice review James. I almost wish I had this version over the clear one as the cutaway approach is so much more like you'd see a real one in a museum. Carl -
Saw it, want it. Just have to get some of the outstanding projects on/near/around my bench/chair/floor finished first Otherwise I won't have any space to work on it, much less add it to the stash. Carl

Ernie, I was wondering if any of the tiger stripes are included as decals or masks? Can't wait to see you build it. Carl -
I've always loved the Caterhsm after first sitting in one back in '92. My wife even said I could get one for my 50th b-day. But that was before we had kids... I think the closest I'll come is the three Tamiya ones I have. Carl
