  1. That's a blast from the past. One of the beers I drank when I started drinking in university. That and Upper Canada Dark Ale A radio station here pulled a prank on the owner John Sleeman once on air. They gave him a selection of beers to blind taste test. One of them was from his brewery. He jokingly slagged them all until they told him one was of the beers was his. He got so pissed he pulled their advertising budget from the station. The DJs had to kiss up big time.
  2. Last night Martin and I discussed the camo on the 262. Going through my references as well as Martin's we came to the conclusion that the nacelles needed some corrections. It turns out the plane I'm doing still exists and is in the Australian War Museum. So based on pics of the airframe as well as period photos (not all were helpful there) I broke out the masking tape. A quick spray of green over the tops of the nacelles... ...and done. This is probably a better match now.
  3. Peter, I picked up some PE guides a few years ago. They're to mark the centre of a tube precisely for drilling them out. Let me see if I can find them. I haven't used them so can't say how easy they would be to use.
  4. Wow, 3 of them. You're as bad as me with Spitfires. I had one and I think I lost it in a move.
  5. If you don't mind small scale, Accurate Miniatures did a 1/24 Grand Sport Corvette model. Pretty much like the pic above but a road racer so you'd have to find a suitable interior.
  6. Nice start to the paintwork. That airbrush tip looks interesting and is a great idea to help get consistent results. For sealing over the decals, maybe try a few most coats first before a slightly heavier one to prevent the clear from melting the decals.
  7. But it's Bring a Trailer which means prices can get silly. Last year a 2000 Honda Civic sold for over $80k on their site.
  8. Scott, just read this. Damn. Sorry to hear that. I'm glad they at least found it. My mom had breast cancer. That was almost 20 years ago. She's been in remission since her treatment. All our best wishes to you both.
  9. Peter, I drilled a slightly oversized hole so that I could have a bit of wiggle room in getting the dipoles aligned. That made a big difference. I then used a slower setting CA to give me time to tweak the position before it dried
  10. I did set it aside planning to get back to it. Sadly Fur somehow climbed up onto the top shelf (still have no idea how) and sat on it. It looks salvageable so hopefully I can fix the damage. Worst case, I'll start the one in my stash.
  11. Well I took my time and got the rest of the holes drilled in the antenna arms. I then cut the tubing for the dipoles. Then I glued everything together. One thing I noticed once I had them together is the dipoles flex a bit if you bump them rather than snap or bend.
  12. Yellow sidewalls anyone? Tires are painted. Time to sort out the FuG 218 dipoles. I bought the wrong ones and have dipoles for an FuG 220 and they're much larger. I've been debating getting the correct ones from Master Models but it would take about 3 weeks to get here. Here's the kit rendition. Playing around, I drilled a hole through one and then threaded 0.4 mm tubing from Albion Alloy with a centre rod that's 0.2 mm thick through it. The challenge will be drilling the mounting hole 8 times and hoping it's centered each time. Got one done at least.
  13. I started the Thunder Models Scammell tank transporter. The impressive part was if you were careful with the glue, the suspension could remain fully articulating.
  14. Hard to say Peter. It could be shipping to Australia or possibly import duties as well.
  15. Thunder Models has a new wrecker coming out this summer. I think some folks have been waiting for this one to finally arrive.
  16. Has anyone watched Blue Eye Samurai yet? It's a great series and don't let it being animated deter you. They've done an amazing job with the story and the animation is stunning.
  17. I'm a couple episodes in. A bit slower than the movie which I enjoyed too
  18. A quick fix on the starboard wing cross. First up was coat of green. Then the mask and some white paint. All done! I then drilled and fitted the wheels. A coat of paint for them is up soon.
  19. Wow, really nice looking pair of engines. Very tidy work on drilling and mounting the ignition wires.
  20. Rob, the brass gear are a copy of the kit ones with the scissors links already installed so they're not any more detailed. Strength-wise, I'm undecided if there's a need for them. I mostly got them as I was already making an order with Aerocraft for other bits at the time.
  21. Scott, the kit is nice but definitely do lots of dry fitting. Mine had some warping which made it a bit of pain but if the one you get is good, then you should have a straightforward build.
  22. Nice looking glass. Clear and sharp.
  23. Peter, I had assembled and painted the wings for another Tomcat when I realized I had painted them with the control surfaces white and I needed them to be Light Gull Grey. Rather than strip them I just grabbed a second pair and threw the incorrect ones in the box for the subsequent build.
