Italeri F-35A splinter scheme
BlrwestSiR replied to ScottsGT's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Nice fix and I think we've all done something similar especially when we know better. -
Great weathering and overall paint work.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Lots of great looking models. That aerobatics team display looks truly impressive.

Sorry to hear that Gus. He'll certainly be missed, like all our pets are.

Land Rover Defender 110 from Spectre
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
The complete lack of instructions has made things fun. Mostly figuring out what kit parts to use and where to make mods to them. I decided to check the fit of the floorpan. First thing I noticed was the huge Revell logo on the bottom. That had to go. I used my Tamiya razor saw and it was a quick swipe to remove it. Test fitting it with the chassis, I noticed some interference at the last cross member. So this has been sanded down and notched to fit. The inner fenders needed a couple holes cut in it to make space for the new strut towers. May cap them with a piece of sheet styrene so I don't have the huge hole in the fender -

Thankfully I won't be going for 100% accuracy. Wouldn't have much of a kit left. -

This one is coming along nicely. Nice to see all the earlier prep work is paying off. -
Amazing paint and stencil work.

That seems to fit dimensionally. I heard George Lucas used the interior for that famous shot from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Nice couple of cars Ernie. With the pickups you also have, just how big is that garage of yours?

That looks good. Less brown too. -

I'm colour blind and I can definitely see the brown in that. -

Nice! Who made the masks again? I've got ones by Galaxy Models for the Tamiya 1/48 kit. -
You're making me want to try the 1Man Army masks. Those results look fantastic.

That's cool. Looks like a streamlined B-2.

Nice progress Peter. Hopefully you don't find any spots needing fixing. -

This is a transkit and uses the recent Revell Land Rover 110 wagon as a donor kit. From what I can tell, not much is used from the kit except the chassis and floor pan. Here's the kit chassis. After cleaning up the seam lines, I removed the stock front suspension mounting points I then attached the new upper spring mounts. These are 3D printed and include a shaft which looks to represent the shocks. Installed onto the chassis. The biggest hurdle with this conversion is the lack of an instruction manual. When I contacted C1 Models they never replied to me. However, there is a video on their website which shows you how things go together so that was a big help in solving things. -
Ok, this was sitting under my bench so I figured why not start it. We'll see about the finishing part. It's from C1 Models out of the UK. They make various transkits for car models as well as some full resin ones. The body is 1 piece and is a nice casting. Much of the conversion uses 3D printed parts. There are some PE parts as well.

Looks good John. This being a land based Corsair, did they remove the tailhook? I'm got a stalled one with the tailhook removed and the opening plated over. -

Interesting that they don't work but it does help keep the cost down on the kit. It looks like the suspension in the M10 and Achilles kits will work though but that's a different design. -

Peter, no plans yet really. Probably something to display beside my B-17 whenever I get to that kit. Supposedly Thunder Models is coming out with bomb trailers soon to go with the tractor. -

Not sure what I was thinking but I've got one kingpin drilled for posable steering. Thunder Models has really crammed in a lot of detail on something so small.
