  1. Hi Alan, looks great to me. Just been looking back at photos from our holidays over there and the soil colour looks pretty spot on. Some areas of the region it looks a little greyer but generally that looks fairly representative of Normandy.
  2. Very temped by that just because we've holidayed in Normandy quite a few times and Caen is a lovely town. Has a great model/fantasy shop that my son used to badger us to make sure we visited each time. Thought of painting all those cobbles makes my eyeballs itch though!
  3. Agree with Smitty and Carl, that looks amazing Alan. Really nice mix of textures and materials.
  4. Got this as a Crimbo present from the in-laws and having not built a helo since the Airfix braille scale Gazelle 40 years ago thought I'd crack straight into it while I watch endless videos of how to paint NMF for the P-47D. It's the Revell UH-1C which I believe is a rebox of an MDC/Academy kit. It's OOB with no fancy touches, I'm just going for a quick finish. Used the kit decal for this and I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it came out with just some Microsol. Fuselage goes together next which might be fun. Looks like it'll be hard to deal with the seams and maintain the nice raised rivet detail.
  5. Looks like it'll be a fun build Phil. I'm with you on the wish for a decent 1/32 kit of this, might be the sort of thing to appeal to ICM?
  6. Looking really good. Nice info about the convoy lights, you learn something new everyday!
  7. This is going to be cool. Always fancied doing the Smirnoff Bearcat using the Draw Decals set but never found a kit at a price I thought was reasonable.
  8. Hi all, just to explain my thinking here. I work as a scientist in the NHS and have just taken on additional teaching roles which are eating up a lot of time and energy until I get things the way I want them. Also, dealing with the pandemic fall-out and some of the colleagues who aren't so keen on these teaching changes is eating up my emotional energy. My son is doing computer games at Uni so could teach me the 3D stuff but I just don't have the time or energy to concentrate on it at the moment. I'm happy just sticking bits of plastic together as my relaxation and de-stress so I'm very happy with my other prize of the new GWH P-40 from Ernie. I don't see any point in me taking this amazingly generous prize from Hubert and it just sitting in the box, so I'd much rather it went to someone who is going to use it and get the most from it. I know there are lots of people on here who could do great things with it. Hubert has very kindly gifted me a book I know I will use instead, which he really didn't have to do, so I'm good about this arrangement. Cheers, Gus
  9. Sorry to hear that. My uncle had some years ago and I still remember his horror stories about it. Is there a chance of using the lithotripsy to smash them?
  10. Same to you Phil and to all our other members. At the moment, it does seem like the only way forward is UP!
  11. Great finish Rob. I agree about the Extreme Metals, they are great paints. Currently I'm trying to work out which ones I need for a NMF P47.
  12. Great to see how the masks work. I've looked at reviews but haven't seen anyone actually using them yet. The results look mighty impressive. Thanks Jeroen
  13. Yes, we think we get it bad here in Scotland but those sort of temperatures put it in perspective. Our problem is the dampness with the cold which always seems to make it feel worse.
  14. Global warming hits Canada?!? 😃 Looks very nice though. Enjoy!
  15. Sorry to hear that Ernie. Hope you get better soon and your family stay safe.
  16. They look to be around 70-80 euros for the 1:1 versions and roughly half that for the smaller scale. They look nice but a bit 'plasticky' to my eye.
  17. Ern if you are feeling too rough I'm sure we can all wait for the draw until you're better.
  18. Sorry to hear that Ern. Hope you're feeling better soon. Rotten time to get sick. Hope the rest of your family are OK.
  19. Cool present and like the t-shirt harv
  20. Is that how you're planning on finishing yours Mark?
  21. Have a lovely time too Maru. You obviously won't be risking a white Christmas this year!
  22. Hadn't really thought of that Rob, but trying to predict if they'll shrink symmetrically isn't straightforward with all those different shapes and bumps. If there's any mis-registration it's certainly not noticeable in these pictures.
  23. Merry Christmas to everyone. Here's to a good one!
