Wow, great result with the decals Rob. I honestly didn't believe you'd be able to get such a cool finish with them, but that looks as good as any 3D decals or such.- 177 replies

Hi Peter, you must be near the Brookhaven lab then? I went there 25 plus years ago on a research visit and had a quiet afternoon wandering round the Calverton cemetery which seems to be just across the highway from the Grumman park. Don't think it was there then or maybe I just missed it!

Love pictures like that but always wonder if the crews have spines left after that lands. Not sure the shock absorbers are quite up to that sort of impact! 🤕

Great to see Mark. Built and painted a few kits with my son when he was younger but he dropped out when he discovered gaming. However, he got back into it last year during lockdown as a kind of stress relief at University.

Look like the best of friends Fran. Obelix with no Asterix?

Plenty to choose from around here recently after Arwen! Sure you get some life-size ones as well if needed. 😁 -

Looking good and congrats on passing the forklift test. -
They are all cute Hubert but Mascha is an absolute stunner. Very photogenic and by the looks of that photo, she knows it. 😃

Great picture, looks really inquisitive. Making that fateful decision is the absolute worst. These are our first two dogs, so not had to do it for them yet but done it for a few of our cats down the years. I've never cried at a funeral but I'll admit to a few sobs burying some of our pets in the garden. 😪

This is Mitzi and Salty. Together known by our dog walker as the 'Two Tiny Terrorists'. Small dogs with big dog attitude! Smart, cunning and with no end of energy although they are both starting to get on. Hate all beagles and border terriers but will run forever with our neighbour's rotties.

With trepidation Phil. I'm not sure the pink ball is as much in England's favour as the press are making out. Just can't see where we're going to make enough runs. Even as a long retired club swing bowler, I'd fancy bowling at Burns. There are so many moving parts in his technique that unless everything is in perfect synch he's so vulnerable.

As an alternative to Micromask can I suggest you try Incredible White Mask from Grafix. I tried it after it was recommended by Matt McDougall and it's a lot less 'clingy' than Micromask and comes off very cleanly with no residues.

Cuuute! Big feet, if he grows to fit those, he's going to be pretty big Carl.

Next project coming up. First kit I built when I came back to the hobby but made quite a few mistakes by following the kit instructions and it was sprayed with rattlecan Tamiya AS-12. So plan is to try a proper natural metal finish using AK Extreme Metals. Have also ordered Montex masks for Black Panther and may invest in some metal barrels. -

Well, other than no practice, wrong team selection, wrong choice at the toss, opener walking across a leg stump half-volley gift, etc it wasn't too bad..... 😞 -
Thanks Phil. You're definitely right that it's hard to go too far on vehicles, etc but it is very easy to do on planes. Next project is to try a natural metal finish and I've no idea how or how hard to weather that.

Not sure exactly where everyone is in the US but I hope anyone around those tornadoes in Kentucky and Illinois, etc is safe and well. Makes the gales we've had over here in the last couple of weeks look pretty tame.

Thanks fellas. I have to say Martin it did end up being good fun. I was a bit intimidated at first but once I grasped you couldn't really go too far with the chipping on something as beat-up looking as this, it was enjoyable to see just how far you could push it.

Yes, flying fences have been prolific up here as well. Closely followed by the flying trampoline tally. Has no-one heard of staking the damn things down! -

Nice job with the coverage on the yellow Peter. My least favourite colour to airbrush I think. -
Just finished this one. The trailer will follow but I need a break to do something other than rust for a bit! Done OOB, it goes together well and is pretty straightforward to put together as you can do it as a nice break down of sub-units. Idea behind it was to try some rust techniques so I decided to do a 'what if' civilian version which has seen a bit of abuse down the years. Done using Mig Ammo paints and weathering products other than Tamiya clear orange for the roof lights and buff for the dust on the tyres and lower bodywork. It's not perfect but I'm pretty happy with it for a first attempt. Biggest regret is not swapping out the supplied string for the winches as it's just too 'hairy' to look great. Gus
