Peterpools Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Gus Looking so good .. one of the best paint schemes I’ve ever seen Keep ‘em comin Peter 3
GusMac Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Thanks fellas. Yes, all Real Colors so far Kai. The colour matches just seem to work. 3
Kaireckstadt Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Sounds great Gus. Can‘t wait for the next update! 3
GusMac Posted June 24, 2021 Author Posted June 24, 2021 Quick progress update Black on and all masking done ready for the white. Masking around the base of the refuelling probe was a complete pain but I've got it about as accurate as I can manage. Going to make sure and burnish all the edges down again before I spray the white as leakage might well be an issue with all the curves involved. 8 1
Peterpools Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Gus Right with Gaz ... epic masking for sure Keep 'em comin Peter 2
Kaireckstadt Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Awesome work Gus! This will be a stunning livery in the end! 2
DocRob Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Looks like a piece of modern art Gus, right with the others, great job with all the masking and thanks for reducing the world Kabuki resources, the stuff will be expensive soon. Cheers Rob 3 1
GusMac Posted June 25, 2021 Author Posted June 25, 2021 Thanks fellas. The Tamiya flexible tape is probably more useful than the Kabuki for getting the curves but I've certainly used plenty of both! 2 2
GusMac Posted June 29, 2021 Author Posted June 29, 2021 Well, upper surface masking is off .... A few touch-ups needed where the masking hasn't been perfect and a couple of slight asymmetries between the sides but I'm pretty happy with how it's come out so far. I'll do the repairs over the next couple of days and hopefully get started on the underside at the weekend. 9 1

HubertB Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Now, THAT is a change compared to boring camoes…Love it ! Hubert 4
DocRob Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Wow, with that camo you couldn't disguise the plane in the midst of Studio 54 in the mid 70's, it would have stood out. Great job with this bright bird Gus, love it. Cheers Rob 4 2
GusMac Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Thanks fellas. Yes, 'gaudy' might be the word for it Rob, but it certainly stands out. Glad you like it Hubert as your aversion to camouflage was part of the inspiration for trying this. 2 4
GusMac Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 Just a quick update, will post better pictures later. Bottom colours on. A few touch ups required but definite progress. Think I'm going to gloss coat all this before I do the canards and nose just to try and mitigate against cock ups. 9
BlrwestSiR Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Awesome paint scheme and job doing it Gus. It'll definitely stand out as the others have said. Carl 3
GusMac Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 Thanks Carl. I've certainly used plenty of Kabuki tape and kitchen towel! 3
Kaireckstadt Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 That looks stunning Gus! Great masking job and perfect result! The big main gear doors also need 3 colors! You are the masking-champion afterwards! 3
DocRob Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 A definite wow Gus, the only prob with that scheme is, that the other planes in your display shelf will turn invisible. Cheers Rob 1 2
GusMac Posted July 12, 2021 Author Posted July 12, 2021 Thanks fellas. Yes, might need to hand out sunglasses for this one Rob. 😆 1 3
Peterpools Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Gus Absolutely stunning paint work - simply gorgeous looking. Keep 'em comin Peter 1
