Bomber_County Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Sublime as ever John, the cockpit was tiny compared to US planes.... 3

JohnB Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 Making some progress! I'll start on the nose next with engine covers in place. 5

JohnB Posted April 20, 2021 Author Posted April 20, 2021 Since I plan to have the engine covers in place there's no need to do any detailing, etc. there. 5
BlrwestSiR Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 Looks good John and I agree about leaving out the unnecessary bits. I've done that a few times on my Spitfires. Carl 5

Looks very nice John! Good decision to leave the unnecessary parts out. I‘m not a friend of opening all possible panels. With closed cowls it‘s possible to see the beautiful sleek look of the Spitfire. Like your approach! 7
Spitfire Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Yes I agree I would prefer to see a buttoned up air frame, I can however I do appreciate the skill and time some people put into their opened up builds, but it is not for me. Cheers Dennis 8

Cheers Dennis Same here Dennis. I did leave the cowlings off and did some detailing on my 1st Mk IX a few years ago. I figure that has it covered. LOL 6
Peterpools Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 Quote John looking so good and completely agree - no need to spend time building assemblies that will never be seen Keep ‘em comin Peter 5
JohnB Posted April 23, 2021 Author Posted April 23, 2021 Time to do some preliminary painting. Next I'll mask off the areas for the invasion stripes and get them laid down. 9 1
GazzaS Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 I'm glad to see the cowls close up nicely. I hate it when they don't. Looking good! 5

BlrwestSiR Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Looks good John. I'll have to try painting markings on first one day. I almost always do them after the fact. 4
