Tamiya 1/48 F-14A

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm going to jump in to the wet stuff as well!

This is a bit 'vanilla' compared to a lot of the unusual builds here but we've got an F4 already, so why not another carrier bird from the 70s and 80s.

Got the cockpit done so far and I can see why people rave about these newer Tamiya kits. The engineering just makes painting so much easier and everything just fits perfectly so far.

Took the photos before I put the side panels on just so things are a bit more visible.

Great pit Gus, the detail painting is amazing. The rave about these Tamiya kits is only part of the thing. There is no margin for fail with these kits, as they are so beautifully engineered and nope, I don't want to put any pressure on you Gus :D.

Cheers Rob

I told my wife either the A or the D, so it wasn't until Christmas morning I knew which I was getting.

Made a bit more progress and the quality of the moulding is so impressive. You'll enjoy it Carl.

Great progress, Gus. I'm enjoying following along...

Thanks, l see now why everyone raves about these new Tamiya kits. The thought that has gone into the engineering is wonderful. Who knew what you could achieve by letting people who actually build kits design them! 😁

'Falling' together nicely, Gus ;). Earnestly, great work on the wheel wells and closing the fuselage is always a special moment, a moment without unpleasant surprises in this case, I think. I have a -D version in stash, but I'm not that much of a jet guy, but the Tomcat is one of my favorites, so there is a chance in a not too far future...

Meanwhile, I'm following your build and can't wait for more progress.

Cheers Rob

Gus

Looking so good and your steady hand at detail painting isa spot on the money - looking so good.

I have a number of the newer Tamiya's 48th scale kits in the stash: F-14, F-16, F4, P-38 - they're all spectacular. papa Tamiya is taking us where few manufactures have been able to go.

Progress may slow a little as my wife and l have finally succumbed to covid. Given we've both worked right the way through in frontline healthcare it was gonna catch us sooner or later.

Might do some gluing but no airbrushing for the moment.

Get better Gus!

Sue had a bad cold two weeks ago that she couldn't shake. Finally tested herself and came back positive so the rest of us then tested. Findlay and I were positive as a well but asymptomatic. Edward was negative and immediately told everyone to stay away from him. Lol. We're all clear now.

Hope you both recover as quickly as possible.

Sorry to hear, that you and your wife got the big C. Hopefully you will recover soon and without the sometimes happening C-fallout.
My wife and me, we both had Corona last year, but interestingly not in the same time frame. We still lived together about normal and did not infect the other, strange.
It was like a bad flu, but luckily no back effects on us.

Cheers Rob
