 Tamiya doesn't brush paint the greatest, but it can be done. I usually use Vallejo for brush painting details. Model color is best for brush painting, it's thicker.

Ok, im gonna break it down for you guys . Trumpeter Mk.V provides blisters and some of the body panels to convert Airfix Mk.IX to Five. 
there’s no decent Mk.V so THIS IS THE WAY!!!!

Today's Items.......

From Plaza Japan three items.

First from Tamiya their M26 Armored Tank Recovery Vehicle (35244) in

1/35 scale. I've never seen this version. That is, without the trailer.

It includes metal parts, metal chain, and rubber tires (10). Looks like

an interesting kit. 

     From Hasegawa one of their " 12 Egg Girls Collection". This one;

"Sara Mayuki" ( bikini)  in 1/12 scale. Probably the last of these things

I'll purchase. This one striking an odd pose.

     Last, also from Tamiya is their Honda DAX125 Limited Edition (14142) in

1/12 scale. I remember riding the original DAX as a kid in the 1970's. I also built

Tamiya's 1/6 of the original Honda DAX kit around 1981.

It looks Ok. A pretty straight forward kit. It has sprues in metallic blue, black, chrome, clear and gray metallic. Also rubber tires, metal springs, and

vinyl tubing. There is also a screwdriver with tiny screws. There are two

marking options for a Standard edition and the limited edition. I noticed

that a helmet is included. I think this will be a quick, easy build.

If they started importing that 125 DAX to the states, I would surly be divorced. I grew up riding a 50 Monkey and a Trail 70.  Resistance would be futile.

Trust me, I’ve often thought if that trick would work.   Her being a medical pro though has her biased against anything with two wheels.  Donor cycles she calls them.  I did mention us buying a couple of CT 125’s to go on rides. Her response was “but where?”  Very true.  SC doesn’t offer much in off road bike or ATV riding like some states do.  
Edit: We do have a nearby off-roading park, but it’s one of those “extreme off-roading” places you go to get covered in mud and thrill seek. Not old people trail riding 

My close friends doc tells him at 60 years of age you’re supposed to sell your motorcycles and ladders. You don’t need to be on either at that age.

Scott, there's too many medical professionals in my family to try the same. My sister in law is an ER doc, my father in law is a retired pathologist so they both saw up close what could happen. 

It worked for a friend of mine though. Maybe too well. He introduced his girlfriend to riding, he was on a Honda CBR at the time. She liked it so much she bought herself a Triumph Daytona. A monster of a bike but she learned how to ride it properly.

Today a true classic landed on my doorstep. Fujimi´s Ferrari 250 GTO. It´s the limited edition with turned aluminum rims and PE spokes and a set of PE and metal parts for further detailing.



I also got a huge array of colors for different car projects from Zero Paint and Number Five paints. These are for my different Ferraris and as well for my Williams FW 16. I hope the blue fits the Cartograph decals. As I primed some McLaren parts, I used the chance and sprayed some dummy parts in Williams blue, to show if it matches.
Lastly, I got a Tamiya painting stand, which will be helpful with car bodies.

I can´t tell you Carl, but I saw some nice builds out of the Fujimi kit. It seems to be one of the better Fujimi kits and relatively accurate.

First, from Friulmodel;  a set of tracks. Their ATL-151 Type 95 "HA-GO".

These track links are tiny! For the equally tiny Finemolds type 95 Japanese

tank to replace the vinyl kit tracks.

 

Second; two masking sets from Eduard for the Tamiya Seiran (EDUEX 168) and The

Tamiya Fi 156 Storch kit (EDUEX240).

 

Third; from Italeri, their Autoblinda AB 41 (No. 6591).  in 1/35.

 

I also got some 12" x 12" self-adhesive vinyl sheets in matte black by

ORACAL (XOO3CP9G7T). I use these along with my circle cutter to

make masks when it's wheel painting time.

Paul, nice additions to the stash, one thing for sure, you can never have enough mask sets as well. Seems if you don't already have the one you need for an upcoming build, it's always out of stock when starting the new project and then the hunt is on.

Thank you Peter and yes, it´s a very beautiful car. 

With the Williams FW16 blue from Zero Paints, I made some matching tests, with the color sprayed un thinned onto a spare part. It comes close, but it´s not perfectly matching and also depends a bit on the lighting. I may have to do some mixing, albeit Zero claims, the blue is mixed according to the kits decals.

In this case I bought the masks for two kits that are still on the way

from Japan ! Upon ordering these kits I immediately ordered the sets

from the Brothers Sprue fearing they might not be available when the kits

arrived.
