It's still <$49 there.. Trying. so. hard. not. to. buy....  But then Carl says he has 15 of them and this would be ONLY two for me... so I'm still WAYY behind him.... and its Tamiya...and its an Mk. IXc to go with the Mk VIII from the Christmas Raffle.......

The PlazaJapan search engine is frustrating.  Searching "F-15" hardly turns up a kit, but lots of other stuff.  But "F-15E" turns up some kits...  Can anyone recommend a good 1/48 or 1/32 F-15E Strike Eagle kit?  PJ has the Bunker Buster version but that seems like overkill.  I'm looking to show this inflight so don't really need all of the radar/avionics stuff to detail.  (Not that I know hardly anything about the F-15 TBH).

Yes, the Plaza Japan search engine has undergone some changes, and

not for the better. I used to just put in "Tamiya 1/35" for example and

get everything that Tamiya makes in 1/35......not anymore. It has become

useless. I hope this is only temporary. As for the F 15 in 1/32 Tamiya

makes some.

The trick to  the Plaza search is to use the column on the left

Side of the page. Select plastic models, aircraft, brand and

you'll find what you need....eventually.

40 dollars!! No way!!

I live about 10 minutes from the Aviationmegastore.com

They have all the kits you can dream of, but not the Hase Stuka.

Enjoy!  I have my next projects lined up: Me262 and Tempest on the bench. The He162 and then Me163.

Shipping is high. I buy items and try to keep the cost under $ 30.00usd

by considering the size of the items I buy.  You can choose regular post and

save. If you choose, for example, fedex,  shipping is quick-a few days-but processing

the order can take a week before its shipped. I only buy from them when I see significant savings on a item. On Tamiya kits

you can save a lot.

I got this today...I wasn't sure that I'd get this thing at first but I

went ahead and pulled the trigger. Well it's the big 1/16 scale

Sd.Kfz. 234/2 "Puma" by Das Werk (DW 16006). At first sight I was

surprised that the box wasn't bigger........Looking at the parts inside

showed that this thing will be massive. Oddly, this kit offers two options

for the suspension; the regular version, and apparently, a simplified

option.  There is a figure; he sits on top the turret smoking a cigarette legs

partially crossed.  A metal barrel is included as are four options for

markings. This can be built as a normal or command version.  The tires,

all nine, are vinyl or some other rubbery stuff, but they look O.K. I didn't notice any seams to clean up on these. Anyway looks promising.

As an aside; I hope my posts on this topic are worthwhile to some

members on this forum. I post these to share my enthusiasm for

the hobby and to share what is available on the market..That's the

reason I follow this topic.....it's informative and I appreciate

anyone who has taken the time to post.

Paul, the Puma looks to be a very nice kit.

Watching one of Andy's YouTube videos on the kit, the suspension option allowed you to build one that works, or a fixed one if you're not as fussy. Certainly nice to have the option. I'm on the fence with the Pumas as well. I'd much rather have the 234/1 with the semi-open turret or the one with the PaK40 on it.

There's lots of AM showing up for the kit too including resin tires with different trad patterns. Easy to go to town on it.

Hope you start a WiP whenever you get to it.

Thanks Carl, but the instructions don't show a working suspension

both are fixed I believe. The M113 has that option. The springs on the Puma are leaf springs and are solidly molded.

Anyway, I'd love to do a build log, and will when it's time. The larger size

probably fits me better. Today I failed trying to assemble a tiny photo-etch

Assembly on a 1/35 kit....I ended up breaking the part.  I think I'll try to

duplicate the part with styrene. Anyway AFV modeler sells Puma parts.....expensive but

really nice. I've bought from them before. As a side note; the figures in these kits, ( Andy's  and Das Werk)

are very nice.....both are by Jason and are Takom. As for the variant you

prefer, it's possible that one might come out...Or that SOL will make a

conversion.... Look on the SOL site, they offer complete turrets for the

Sherman including an IDF version.....So why not a Puma Variant?

Thanks again;

Paul.  BTW I remember that Video😀 and the review etc.

Here's a video.

I took a closer look at the instructions and you're right Paul, it's posable but not working.

I was on Scalemates and they have a 234/1 conversion listed now. It's by FC Model Trend but isn't cheap. More than the kit itself. But at least the option is there now.

Wow, some crazy typos there. I'll need to fix those to make it readable.

Some items has arrived on my doorstep lately.

First, sheer madness, a 1/43 Williams FW 16 from MFH. I will need super magnification :icon_eek: for that kit, but I was tempted by a fellow modeler over on MSW to try one of the little things.

P1022099.thumb.JPG.fccce66becab77d29ba44e4b38c4ee09.JPG

only to show the size, my thick thumb and the tiny, luckily pre printed tyres along.

P1022097.thumb.JPG.be00d296651242b2550d01bfa1baa441.JPG

I pulled the trigger on another 1/20 F1 car. This time the Lotus type 88b from Ebbro. I got it for a good price and because the Ebbro kits are more and more hard to find, I´m quite lucky. The kit has also pre printed tires, which is very helpful and seems to be of very good quality.

Last but not least some contraband . It becomes almost impossible to get greater jars than 30ml to my place. There are no hobby shops around and I have only one vendor left, who supplies me with thinner and primer in larger quantities. I´m very thankful for that Robotines.com.

Nice assortment there Rob. I'm not sure I could manage 1/43 without feeling like I'm  Godzilla trying to put it together.

I read somewhere that Ebbro may have closed up shop. If so, that would explain their scarcity.

Mr Color Leveling Thinner is pretty much sold out in Canada at the moment. My LHS says there's a shipment arriving in March.

After searching a bit, it seems, Ebbro filed for bankruptcy last spring, which is really sad news. I haven´t build any of their kits, but have three in my stash ( My beloved Citroen 21 DS, a Lotus 49c and now the Lotus 88b).
Good luck with the leveling thinner, Carl. It´s terrible if you can´t restock and supplies are going low.

Cheers Rob

Not model related, but Lowe’s had a flash sale yesterday for Kobalt socket sets.  How the hell am I supposed to say no to all this for $30??? Huh?!?  I guess I can leave them in my shed out in the front yard so I don’t have to walk all the way around the house to access the garage for my Snap On stuff.
IMG_2915.thumb.jpeg.475372aff92391f5bfbec42c260834a0.jpeg

the 1/4 drive set was $10 and the 3/8 set was $20.  Normally $200 and $20 for 1/4” set.
