Got this today.....

From I love Kit their  1/18 scale Flak 36 88 mm Anti-Aircraft Gun.

It's a big kit at a reasonable price of about $ 50.00 USD. It should make an

impressive display piece. I'd be happier if it was 1/16 scale, but there you

go. The instructions aren't great....they are printed too dark to see detail well. I've looked at a couple build logs of this beast and have found them

helpful.  It should be a fun project.......And, it's Big!!

I also got some more Mr. Color paint...7 bottles.

As I am a 100% enamel user the closing of Sovereign Colourcoats made me think about checking out other sources of paint, I know that Colourcoats are being resurected but I thought that I would investigate another make that I heard about on another forum.

So like Martin (see above) I ordered some paint sets from ARCUS in Ukraine and they duly arrived today, so on my next Italian build I will give them a try.

Good call Dennis. They spray on beautifully. I discovered that, if you need to do mottling with airbrush , the use of lacquer thinner is the way to go. Brush painting with them is decent, I am still looking for the right thinning ratio, but as of now I am repainting a 1/24 Hurricane and it does look pretty decent. The shades are also beautifully rendered . Which was a statement based on my own taste and my bias opinion. Your experience may vary :)

Nice to hear your positive experience of using them Martin, I have a C.202 to build in the near future so will try them out on it.

USPS just left me another care package from the Brothers of Sprue.
IMG_3014.thumb.jpeg.2585025606a2f904bd4d9bd73da162a1.jpeg

Of course my head was up my keister when I placed the order and I have a set of P-40 canopy masks coming from eBay.
The order was for the cockpit interior.  Just had to add to it to make shipping worth it.
The brass angle is actually to do a repair on the dashboard of my 1990 F-250.
The radio and climate control trim panel clips into slots on the main dash panel. Those tiny openings break in the middle and the clips won’t hold.  I’m going to cut 1” pieces of angle and epoxy them at the crack.
Might even do a work in progress thread. 🤣

Got these today..........

From Burbank's House of Hobbies a few items:

Two track sets from Friulmodel;

First, Their ATL-138 M50/51 Super Sherman/Isherman /M4A3-HVSS

T80 track  These don't use the usual wire to link the tracks. Instead, two of

the three pins molded on each link are held captive by a track pad glued in place

on the inside surface of the track.  The other pin is first inserted into the

connector of the previous track. The hollow guide horn is then glued in place. I have assembled a few to see how it works.....it's going to look

Very good when they all put together.

The other set of Friul tracks is for the Comet Tank. ATL-90

Also a surprise find; from ABER, Their 35l-120 replacement barrel

for the Tamiya M51. I searched for this thing for a long time----always

out-of-stock everywhere. Until I found it at Burbank's . Probably their

Last one. A "hen's tooth" for sure

Last from Amazon, a stainless French Curve template. I thought that

This might help cutting out some decals that I printed.

Quoting myself to share my stupidity.  I was sitting at my bench working on my sons HEMTT truck, looked up on my riser and found a couple of Quinta interior sets sitting there.
Yep, you guessed it.  I had already bought a second set for the P-40K project.  😐

It was sitting with the Trumpeter set I accidentally ordered.
Double Oof.

Now you NEED to buy another P-40 kit, to use up this Quinta set.

In France, we do this with wine, bread, and cheese. Need more cheese to finish my wine, need more bread to finish my cheese, need more cheese to finish my bread, need more wine to finish my cheese ... and so on !

Hubert, that sounds like my wife’s thinking.  Along with “It was all on sale! I saved $XXX” while she spent $XXXX.

I call it going broke saving money.

This just arrived in the mail.
IMG_3040.thumb.jpeg.09adee1409d4a73b1cc2b5c5d8aa9c4c.jpeg

I’ve always wanted to attempt painting one and this one popped up on Hyperscale with a set of Cutting Edge masks to paint the scallops and the major markings.
What the seller failed to mention in the ad was that there were no decals.
I’ll probably have to buy another kit just to get a set of decals now.
I guess I can always build one out as a high speed Nazi gun ship loaded out with bombs hanging under it.
I’ve always had a soft spot for these golden age air racers.  Had always hoped someone would have either kitted them in 1/24 or the 1/18 prebuilt airplanes sold in toy departments because even in 1/32, they are tiny.

Nice. I built an RC GB R2 racer from a Kyosho ARF many years ago ...

Never flew it ....I still have it. Is that the Williams bros. Kit?

Scott, I have two of those, as a stalled build. I intend to do the R1 and R2, which means I have spare decals for the version you want. Just PM me. They are on the next-in-line list after I finish the Cutlass, normally 🤞

Thanks Hubert!  But I reached out to the seller and he’s 99.9% sure he has them.  He forgot he took all the decals out of his older kits and put them in ziplocks and filed them away.
If he is wrong, I’ll let you know.

UPDATE:  Seller found the decals and he’s sending them to me.

Yea, Williams Brothers.
Funny you mentioned RC. I was looking at those tiny foam RC versions of these last night.   Apparently with the stabilization tech in RC’s these days it’s an easy flyer.
BTW, I’m throwing around the idea of getting back into flying RC on a small scale attempt.  Not just smaller airplanes, but only one at a time.  I have a tendency to go down deep rabbit holes with my hobbies and can’t do anything “small”.  If I do, I won’t have $2000+ models again.
I picked up a tiny Saito 30 last month.  Thinking about a Robinhood 25 and once I master it, slap on a set of floats and fly it behind my house.   It’s a hell of a big flying field as long as I keep the dry side up.

Mine has a O.S. 46 in it... As I write this I discovered that it's in a closet

at my Mom's home. Like I said I never flew it or learned to fly Rc.

I enjoyed building it and it made a good display in the apartment I had

at the time.....I was doing odd things at that time. I hope you post pictures

of the float plane project when you get to it. I was recently thinking of

getting a RC trainer... Possibly electric myself...or perhaps an inexpensive

drone.  I remember building the Williams brother's  Seversky p 35

when I was in College... Well, I finished it....turned out OK.

Some items....

First by Takom, their 1/16 scale Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen Sd.Kfz.265

(No. 1017) This is a "3 in 1" kit with a driver figure that has two options

regarding its head; early vs. Later headgear. Also the vehicle can be configured as different variations. I purchased one of these before but recently discovered that the one I bought earlier had a badly warped rear deck. I was glad to find this one as these kits are usually sold-out elsewhere.

I also got this  scriber by STEDI  (MS-39)  It seems to be of good

quality and I like the design better than the Dspiae one I bought earlier.

The blade is held by a adjustable collet rather than a set screw . I'll need

to see if my Dspiae " push broaches" fit this.

Not pictured are 30 of those "alligator clip on a stick"  things to

help with painting .

       Also, more Tamiya epoxy putty.

I had a couple RC helis but never learned to fly. Tried a couple times but didn't have the time to devote to learning to fly.

I stuck with RC cars and monster trucks. Kept my flying to low level stuff off of jumps. Highest I got was about 15 ft off a BMX jump. Stuck the landing which was the best part.

Speaking of '80s RC cars, I had this little guy arrive today.

PXL_20250218_043706555_MP.thumb.jpg.55a0504640ccdbd4f9d4e9da4e319d70.jpg

I had forgotten that I'd ordered it sometime last year.

The Clod Buster was the RC monster truck when it came out. The original basically spawned an entire aftermarket industry. I went through at least 4 back then and bought another a couple years ago that Edward and I put together.

So when I saw this diecast replica I had to order one.

PXL_20250218_043738016.thumb.jpg.1c34546f7f5fe43f609a5dfceea8ae9d.jpg

It's not a monster truck but the markings and colours are pretty faithful to the original red.version.

PXL_20250218_043750655.thumb.jpg.667397beaa4915910d2db8eb174f69df.jpg

Tamiya has released them in blue, black and the current one is grey.  Here's what mine looks like under a pile of other RC cars.

Anybody is up for a resolution, not to buy anything for a month?    Savage right? :)

I’ll try in April.  We’re taking a two week cruise around Ireland and Scotland. Will make it easier since I’ll only have to abstain for two weeks.  😁
