BlrwestSiR Posted March 28 Posted March 28 I haven't been to the LHS since Boxing Day so popped by this afternoon. Picked up a couple books I'd bought for Martin and then saw they had Alclad on sale. Any bottle, $1 each. So I picked up a couple... I also picked up strip styrene for my GT40. 5

How I envy you about having a LHS in reach, Carl, even more with Alclads for that price. I have problems getting Alclads at all, no matter how expensive, but I´m happy for you . Cheers Rob 3 1
belugawhaleman Posted March 29 Posted March 29 My nearest LHS is about 30 minutes away...It's a small family-owned shop that I've been going to on and off since the 80's. Unfortunately their prices are a little high so I buy mostly online. Nice haul Carl! I've used some of the Alclad line but I have never bought them by the truckload.😀 1 1

I've used some of the Alclad line but I have never bought them by the truckload.😀 The shop said the Alclad wasn't moving for them any more so they decided to just clear it out. A lot of the bottles were various clears and Candy's which would more applicable to cars rather than planes. I did manage to find some NMF paints in the pile so got those and decided to try some of the candy colours since I have cars in the stash. I'm really fortunate to have them in the city. They've been great to deal with over the years. The owner knows that he may not always be able to compete with online prices but does what he can. Truth is, these days with the cost of shipping to Canada the store prices are not far off what they are online. The fun is browsing their pre-owned stuff. They buy lots of collections and you can often find stuff for great prices. 4
Count0 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Shore trooper. Kinda ignored these when they were readily available here, cause the movie is just sort of meh. And they seemed weird to me at the time. So of course the supply dries up and then I really want one. So I had to get it from Japan. The moral of the story, It's never too late to pay more for something you didn't want when it was cheap and easy to get. 6 1

I had a model train shop that I could walk to, until a family tragedy put them out of buisiness. After that the closest was about a thirty minute drive as well. And another 30 to the next one. Which was bigger. So that was my Saturday afternoon, go hang out at the model shops. They are more expensive than online, but keeping them in business means you can get stuff if you need to in a short time, so I always bought some things from them. Just my 4

Right after we got married, the wife and I was at the local mall in Woolworths department store. I picked up an M1 Carbine out of a trash a full priced at $165. Wife was all “you don’t need that. Put it back.” Being new into the relationship, I was a good boy. I made up for it later in life. 😁 I picked up what looks like a never issued Winchester carbine for my son. It was $2000. It seriously looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Showed it to my wife and she just shook her head and “$2000 for that!?” Me: “Yea, remember when I tried to buy one just like it at Woolworths back in 1989? It was only $165. You told me to put it back? I bet now you wish I grabbed the whole trash can full of them and dragged them to the cash register.” I did luck out and bought my Garand when they were right at $500 or $600 at the CMP. I also bought 2 of the woodless Dane’s for $300 each for my sons. Each got one on their 18th birthday. 3
Martinnfb Posted April 1 Posted April 1 You gave her wrong reply Scott. The correct one sounds like this: "its for his birthday/grad./wedding/etc. darling, it has to be memorable". Having said that, can you adopt me? 1 3

That said, I still wish I could have grabbed some more when I was a kid. 3
DocRob Posted Friday at 07:29 PM Posted Friday at 07:29 PM Probably my next MFH project. Today, I received that beauty directly from the Company. It took five days to be delivered to my doorstep an absolute record, the big A takes as much time to even start shipping an ordered product to my place. The Brabham BT45 wasn´t a successful car, but it looks absolutely cool. 70´s formula one cars were so different from each other. The BT45 followed the very good BT44, which had the Cosworth DSV 8cylinder engine implanted. The 45 was redesigned for accepting a Alfa Romeo flat 12 engine, which was cheaper (or even free) for Brabham. Unfortunately the engine was not very reliable and the BT45 was not so popular. I´m more attracted by design so for me, the car is a clear winner. Cheers Rob 7
belugawhaleman Posted Saturday at 05:55 PM Posted Saturday at 05:55 PM Some items today........ first, from Atlantis their new release of the old Old Monogram kit, the Mack Bulldog. Their MACK BULLDOG STAKE TRUCK (M2402) IN 1/24. I built the Monogram kit back in the late 70's Not a bad kit with good detail as I remember. I haven't opened the box yet to see how the molds have held up. Next; from Red Fox Studio , their Studio Quick Set Acrylic Instrument Panel-Yak-18 MAX (RFSQS32007). This is for the Trumpeter 1/32 Yak-18 Max kit I bought recently. I also got a set of Montex masks (SM32025) for this kit as well as a set of Eduard 1/32 Seatbelts Soviet Union WWII fighters (32875). All this stuff looks pretty nice, especially the Red Fox instrument panels. The Trumpy Yak should be a fun build. last; another Hasegawa resin figure kit.....An "Egg Girl" in 1/12 scale. This time; No.O2 "Amy McDonnell" (rider). As you can see She's halfway out of her protective riding outfit enjoying a beverage. I think I have most of these now and I have four that are ready for painting. 7
BlrwestSiR Posted Saturday at 06:37 PM Posted Saturday at 06:37 PM Nice assortment of items there Paul. Impressive that you have almost all the Egg Plane girls. 2
