Soo.... What did you just get???

From Hobby Easy in Hong Kong to my home in less than a week.

This came today; it's Takom's M3 Lee, early (03.01.2085) in 1/35.

Released in 2017, I've been looking for this one for awhile..... Always out of stock.

I always liked the M3 Lee's anachronistic looks....looking out of date the day it first

rolled off the assembly line. Anyway, after reading some of the reviews, this one might

not be the effortless build that most Tamiya kits are.....We'll see.

The Takom goes together well, the upper structure needs to be taped and positioned for all the seams to align before adding extra thin. This Takom’s Grant I did a couple of years ago……

Nice! Glad to hear the kits go together well. Thanks.

Well, yet another kit from Tamiya came today. Wasn't happy with the delivery though,

the package was delivered damaged.... No serious damage to its contents, however, just

some minor creases on the box top. It's Tamiya's  French Light Tank R35 (35373).

I wasn't even aware that Tamiya made this kit. It looks good, with link & length tracks,

a nice figure, and nice texturing of the cast areas of the hull and turret. It is very small, however as the real tank was tiny . The big challenge will be painting this thing, as the

French camouflage schemes were a bit complicated with their  black- outlined, hard- edged designs.

@belugawhaleman, Paul, you can build the larger Char B1 bis. The Tamiya kit is wonderful, and it's easier to paint, being larger and a bit boxy. You can also try markers for the outlines. It worked on my Lancia recently, but yours has to be thinner.

Cheers Rob

I have built the b1 bis but due to my move last year never finished it. It was damaged

during the move. I plan to repurchase the kit when I can find it at a decent price. I lost a bunch of the track links as well. I also have the Tamiya Somua on

order. I've been thinking of buying a set of paint markers

But it’s cute …..

After I saw pictures of captured Soviet trucks filled with loot, I couldn’t resist to pick up this baby.
3D printed toilets and microwaves are on order as well. :)

Where on earth are 3-d printed toilets available for purchase?! Anyway, love the idea

of Russians looting toilets! And yes, I agree, the R35......definitely cute!

Got this decal sheet from STAR DECALS today.

It's their 35-C 1215 German Tanks In Norway and Finland III

The decal options are all for the French SOMUA tank in German service.

I have a SOMUA s 35 kit on the way and I thought this would provide some

interesting options. I had no idea that the Germans used captured French tanks

outside of France. I really don't know much about the German campaigns in

Norway and Finland..... I guess I have some reading to do.

Captured French equipment served various roles.  In Norway, Germany kept a large number of troops to keep the iron ore flowing, fearful of an Allied invasion.  I think there were 11 divisions there at the end of the war,

Today, arriving earlier than expected from Scale Hobbyist came another

Tamiya kit. This time their SOMUA S35. (35344)  And it looks like a great kit!

With this kit the tracks aren't the expected Link & Length, but are individual

link workable tracks. Each link is tiny....102 per each side. I heard from some reviews

that they can be easily damaged while "clicking" together and the way the instructions

tell you to do it isn't the best way of doing it. The kit also includes some metal chain

and three marking options.....all weirdly French. I noticed only the turret has the French

style black lines between the colors. The hull, turret, and other pieces have a very nice

cast metal texture. I was surprised that the size of this tank....it looks to be about the

same size as a Sherman. SOMUA is the acronym for  Société d'Outillage Mécanique et d'Usinage d'Artillerie. I found out that the German forces used

about 300 0f these tanks.

An Amazon purchase, this came today.

Tamiya's Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf. A/B/C (Sd.Kfz.121) (French Campaign).

A 2008 release, it has Link & Length tracks, some photo-etch, a figure, and markings

for four vehicles. It can be built as 4 variations. It has armored pieces that are added to the

hull to produce the up-armored variant of the Panzer II. A very small model is inside the

box!
