BlrwestSiR Posted Friday at 09:33 PM Posted Friday at 09:33 PM I haven't been to the LHS since Boxing Day so popped by this afternoon. Picked up a couple books I'd bought for Martin and then saw they had Alclad on sale. Any bottle, $1 each. So I picked up a couple... I also picked up strip styrene for my GT40. 5

If this is what your religion calls « a couple » … Well, as long as Sue agrées …🥴 Hubert 1 4

How I envy you about having a LHS in reach, Carl, even more with Alclads for that price. I have problems getting Alclads at all, no matter how expensive, but I´m happy for you . Cheers Rob 3 1
belugawhaleman Posted Saturday at 04:05 PM Posted Saturday at 04:05 PM My nearest LHS is about 30 minutes away...It's a small family-owned shop that I've been going to on and off since the 80's. Unfortunately their prices are a little high so I buy mostly online. Nice haul Carl! I've used some of the Alclad line but I have never bought them by the truckload.😀 1

I've used some of the Alclad line but I have never bought them by the truckload.😀 The shop said the Alclad wasn't moving for them any more so they decided to just clear it out. A lot of the bottles were various clears and Candy's which would more applicable to cars rather than planes. I did manage to find some NMF paints in the pile so got those and decided to try some of the candy colours since I have cars in the stash. I'm really fortunate to have them in the city. They've been great to deal with over the years. The owner knows that he may not always be able to compete with online prices but does what he can. Truth is, these days with the cost of shipping to Canada the store prices are not far off what they are online. The fun is browsing their pre-owned stuff. They buy lots of collections and you can often find stuff for great prices. 4
Count0 Posted Sunday at 11:06 PM Posted Sunday at 11:06 PM Shore trooper. Kinda ignored these when they were readily available here, cause the movie is just sort of meh. And they seemed weird to me at the time. So of course the supply dries up and then I really want one. So I had to get it from Japan. The moral of the story, It's never too late to pay more for something you didn't want when it was cheap and easy to get. 5 1

I had a model train shop that I could walk to, until a family tragedy put them out of buisiness. After that the closest was about a thirty minute drive as well. And another 30 to the next one. Which was bigger. So that was my Saturday afternoon, go hang out at the model shops. They are more expensive than online, but keeping them in business means you can get stuff if you need to in a short time, so I always bought some things from them. Just my 3

Right after we got married, the wife and I was at the local mall in Woolworths department store. I picked up an M1 Carbine out of a trash a full priced at $165. Wife was all “you don’t need that. Put it back.” Being new into the relationship, I was a good boy. I made up for it later in life. 😁 I picked up what looks like a never issued Winchester carbine for my son. It was $2000. It seriously looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Showed it to my wife and she just shook her head and “$2000 for that!?” Me: “Yea, remember when I tried to buy one just like it at Woolworths back in 1989? It was only $165. You told me to put it back? I bet now you wish I grabbed the whole trash can full of them and dragged them to the cash register.” I did luck out and bought my Garand when they were right at $500 or $600 at the CMP. I also bought 2 of the woodless Dane’s for $300 each for my sons. Each got one on their 18th birthday. 2
Martinnfb Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago You gave her wrong reply Scott. The correct one sounds like this: "its for his birthday/grad./wedding/etc. darling, it has to be memorable". Having said that, can you adopt me? 1 2

That said, I still wish I could have grabbed some more when I was a kid. 2
