JohnB Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I was at loose ends after finishing the Trumpeter P-47D-11 so, to keep busy, I decided to build this R2800 from one of my unbuilt Corsair kits. When I decide to build another Corsair I'll already have the engine done. 7
EmperorKai Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Nice work John! Nice to have it ready to go for your future project, but its also pretty cool on its own Kai 2
JohnB Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 Thanks Harv and Kai. Now to decide on what to do next...... 4
DocRob Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Hehe , can't let go of the Corsairs…. God for me though, I got some new pictures of a similar Engine like mine in the Jug, what will be the next step. One of these days you should try the Brassin R2800. The Tamiya one is perfectly good, but the Brassin is in another league. The only difficulty is to fit it under the cowlings, even when you try the thinner resin or PE ones. Some of my grey hairs appeared when I tried to fit the Brassin engine into the Corsair and let the cowlings removable some years ago. But this gem cries for leaving everything open. Cheers Rob 4
JohnB Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 Thanks Rob. Fit problems with after market stuff seems to be the usual thing. I quit buying a couple of brands for that reason. I'll keep the Brassin engine in mind for a later build though. Thanks again. 3
Bomber_County Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 John, pre-building engines, did you buy a job lot of Corsairs....... 2

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted December 16, 2018 Administrators Posted December 16, 2018 I’m just about to offer bets on how long till Corsair #96 or so gets started. 4
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted December 16, 2018 Administrators Posted December 16, 2018 But one more 2800and you can hang them on that Widow! It’s calling “Build Me, Daddy, please?” 4

It’s calling “Build Me, Daddy, please?” There's an idea. Maybe pick up the sprues from Tamiya and replace the HB engines. I wonder if that would be enough to see her back on the bench... Edit: forgot to say, a very nice engine John. Can I send you a couple of mine to build if you need to keep something on the bench? Carl 4
JohnB Posted December 16, 2018 Author Posted December 16, 2018 LOL guys! For now that damn P-61 is staying on the SOD. It has too many cuss-factors to be enjoyable. I'll get back to it some time when I'm feeling like cussing! LOL 4
Drifter Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Exactly how I feel about the Trump Mig 21 MF. It's sitting on my bench yelling at me, but I have zero want to work on it. 5
Peterpools Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 John My money says, instructions not needed when a yamiya R2800 is on your bench and ready for assembly. How many have you built since Papa tamiya let the first one fly? Peter 4
JohnB Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 LOL Peter. Nine full build Corsairs and this R2800 makes 10. 2
Peterpools Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 John Amazing for sure. I'm only on Tamiya R2800 two but I've built seven Tamiya Merlins. Sure looks like I need to keep building those R2800 Peter 3
