Wingco57
I tried Bluetack first but it wouldn’t stick to the surface ( must be an old pack) so I thought what the heck......

Wingco57
I hope so as the start of the usually fun process didn’t start fun at all.  I planned to do a 56 sqn aircraft but it turned out the Hunter decals were too small, both chequers and firebird logo. Back to square one but luckily I had some Lightning decals too so 92 sqn it is as the cobra logo was of the correct dimension. as there are no RAF Phantom decal sheets this will be a long progress. Pheww.

Wingco57
Thanks, with projects such as this you have to be. Decalling is a project in itself. I use a bit of the Tamiya kit and the spare decal bank. The finflash had to be custom made from bits of wingroundel. also did some work on the Spey cans. After a wash they should look good,..... I hope. 3
Anthony in NZ
Those Spey cans do look really good! Mine arrived Thursday and I am super happy with them. Only problem it seems they are a bit small to fit on my Tamiya kit.....oh no
ThomasProbert
I love that metal affect on the rear end, Cees. Really looking the part now.
Wingco57
Thanks Tom. Another result of a bit of experimenting that involves this build but it is great fun. I sprayed aluminium first and then drybrushed grey, gun metal and smoke. Today I sprayed one Underwing tank dark sea grey and the other one dark green, before I found out that the tanks were dark sea grey only. So one step forward and 1/2 step back. I had found some black/yellow chequer decal and being a smartypants thought to put red squares on top of the black ones. But the decal broke shattered in many pieces so have to mask and spray. Slowly but surely.
