Martinnfb
Definitely Thai Air Force recon birds are pretty sweet. I don't want to hijack Carl's topic, so once you start yours, I will hang it tall there. Just for demonstration purposes two basic coats.

BlrwestSiR
Well, the tape is off and... I'd say it's a much better result this time.

BlrwestSiR
Thanks Martin! There's a small bit of overspray I need to fix but otherwise there were no issues with the paint. No lift, no marking from the tape. It came off nice and clean.

It may not be a true NMF but I think it comes close enough without all the headache. There was a C-119 at the shop one of the staff had done using the same paint and it had the same finish as mine. So definitely not a fluke.
BlrwestSiR
Ok, I managed to get the antiglare panel and the radome painted. Were the wheel wells silver or chromate green? Those are up next.
Martinnfb
Zink Cromate. An interesting discussion here 2
BlrwestSiR
Thanks Martin! That's next to mask off and paint. Then I have to figure how to get the ejection seats in.

BlrwestSiR
Thanks Phil! I generally try not to give up on a kit unless it's well and truly pear shaped. Plus, if I feel that it's a bad enough flaw that I've paused on it, I've got nothing to lose by trying a re-do.
BlrwestSiR
Quick weekend update. I masked off the wheel bays. At the same time, I did the tailpipe.

BlrwestSiR
Thanks for all the encouragement folks! Okay, time for a quick update. I got the tip tanks done and painted. Then it was onto the landing gear. I was concerned about the way the gear legs mounted but couldn't figure out a way to pin them so hopefully they hold up. I did drill out the wheels so I can pin them with metal wire. Need to paint them before I install those.

BlrwestSiR
I painted and installed the wheels. Then the moment of truth: She's not a tail sitter! I then started painting the canopy by doing an initial coat of black. While that dried, I started on the decals. They're from Belcher's Bits, the same guy that made the decals for Ernie's Lanc. 5
