Old Dog Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 The lower lounge looks quite comfy, just the place for some tea and crumpets ! Seriously, some really nice work there ! 1
woody37 Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Looking superb Cees, well worth the time and effort to get the detail right 2
npb748r Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I have this in my stash to build but haven't had the courage to start it - your build looks fantastic. My dad was a rear gunner on a 298 squadron halifax, I keep putting off starting in the hope that someone (HK models - please !!!) releases a 1/32 kit but I know in my heart it wont happen and I will have to tackle the FM kit. When I do I will be using your build as a guide so thank you. neil 3
Wingco57 Posted May 7, 2020 Author Posted May 7, 2020 Thanks Neil, just saw this. Building a Halifax as a tribute to your father is a great motivation to start this kit. As you say the chances of a better kit are remote, so why wait? I'd say go for it. 2
harv Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Haven't looked in for a bit. Pleasantly impressed.....harv 1
Wingco57 Posted August 19, 2020 Author Posted August 19, 2020 No pics at the moment but this build has also received some recent attention. I have been working on replacing the terrible engines/cowling combination with those of the Tamiya Beaufighter which improves the look enormously. 3
Wingco57 Posted September 27, 2020 Author Posted September 27, 2020 Some progress. The Frankenfax has engines and props from Tamiya and Revell Beaufighters. The tan parts are from the kit. Also the wingroots received some attention as they did fit against the fuselage. 8
GazzaS Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Great work! I really hate working in the fuselage/wing junction. 1
Wingco57 Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 Been a while, but the Hally has got some much needed attention. I decided to cut off the forward fuselage to be able to work on the rear. It needed widening by 4 mm. After that it looks much better. Where is Tamiya when you need them. Some dryfitting to see if the main components fit together. 7 1
Wingco57 Posted August 1, 2022 Author Posted August 1, 2022 Been quite some time. Fuselage has been made complete again now the nose halves have been refitted. A major step towards completion. Cleaning up the joins will take some work. Them it's time to fit the transparencies. Wings are almost complete. I am very happy with the Tamiya Beaufighter cowlings, they look so much better than the FM chimney pots 8 1

GusMac Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Looking really good Cees. Third picture gives a really good impression of the size, even in 48 scale it's a big beast. 2
