In the modeling doldrums!

I hate it when this happens! I just can't seem to get the "want to". I have the HB F-84E on the bench but haven't done much work on it other than some painting on the AMS cockpit/seat set. Seems I have to make myself go work on it and usually wind up just sitting there and staring at the parts. Bummer!

You know what you need John...............another Corsair............:o

LOL Normally that might just fill the bill but I just finished one and I'm not ready for another right now. :)

The F-84 is a nice build, but like you I sometimes have a hard time getting excited about it.  There is the Black Widow, though...

When I get in a funk I often break out a Hasegawa kit and stick it together, saving my effort for the finishing of it.

After finishing the Jagdtiger, I was supposed to go back to my CF-104D. I pulled it out and just couldn't get motivated. So I've out that back and gone onto my Skyline GT-R. So far, the complete change is working and I'm enjoying it.

Well John,

Hate to say it, but  you might need something different.  Maybe armor.  Maybe not U.S.  Maybe you need to envision something where you don't have to deal with cockpits, Wing roots, leading and trailing edges.  In other words, something that doesn't have all the pitfalls and nuances of an aircraft model.

Failing that, put yourself into DIY or other chores (family/church/charity...  pick your poison) and use so much time that you need the reward of model building.  I think if we have too much time for our hobby, that it becomes less rewarding, and becomes common and boring.

I have been considering doing that but it seems the doldrums have passed for now. However, I have a number of armor kits I plan to build "some day" and some ships too. For now I'll continue on with the F-84. Thanks!!

I have been working on those damn Hasegawa P-40s for almost two years! They seem to need everlasting putty & sand...every time I think I get close, motivation starts to wander. Right now I have three ready to paint, but humidity is through the roof and I feel motivation slipping away. Last night I thought to myself, “I should throw them in the display cabinet Before they get too much dust”

That pretty much means I’m losing motivation. But on the plus side, I am getting work done on the Mustang.

I know how you feel. Some kits have just a bit more aggravation than others. That's one reason I really like Tamiya. I don't recall ever having any high cuss-factor problems with any of them.

Existence leads to Suffering...

The journey through Suffering is the path to Enlightenment. It is a cycle as old as time itself. Whenever you feel this way, go and do something truly mundane until the Joy for Modelling calls to you again.

Very very true John. I’m deep into my first Zoukie-Mura and I’m finding the engineering to be as good as Tamiya, just me being clumsy doesn’t help.......try something different from ZM.......
