  1. Wow, Dave!!!! And to think I'm still in the basic construction stage of my Sherman...... I feel (a bit) shamed! Gorgeous result BTW!!
  2. Somehow I haven't looked in for some time... My mistake! Inspirational!!!!
  3. Which one, the original or also the OAW from last year? Ah, I see, it's only the original boxing. With the OAW boxing you have the exact same alternatives when using aftermarket decals...! Phew.....!
  4. Wow!! That is GREAT work, Artro!! And very good photos too, the background is very convincing! I really like the garden set!! Did you scratch build that or is it a diorama set? I do have to agree with Beychevelle that the mug does look a tad too modern... But to be honest, I didn't notice the mug as a whole until he mentioned it, I was too pre-occupied with the Tiffie and contemplating how such a garden set would look in my own back yard! Super work! Cheers, Erik.
  5. Nice cars!!
  6. So I guess you now have some redundant Profimodeller Do 335B-2 parts sitting idly in your modelling workshop... ?
  7. "If you wish you could do some polishing and dipping in future (or similar)." Look at the clear parts carefully. I believe they are already Future'd by the manufacturer, having seen those parts on Huub's kit.
  8. Hi Doug, welcome!! Wow, what a great gallery!! I hope you will take us with you through Work In Progress-updates of your current and future projects!! Cheers, Erik.
  9. Consider using 2-part epoxy glue instead of CA. It gives you more time to position the parts and gives a less brittle bond. Be sure to get a glue that dries HARD, though, there are those that stay a bit flexible. You won't like it when cleaning up the joints....
  10. Grumman F6F Hellcat Volume I SMI Library #09 Kagero By Tomasz Szlagor & Leszek A. Wieliczko You can get the book at www.kagero.eu for €15,67 This product line focuses on a specific aircraft or even a specific aircraft in specific surroundings with lots of photos, a set of decals and artwork of the subject of those decals. The book contains 96 pages, 135 photos, 4 profiles and 4 decal options in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32. I have a bit ambivalent feelings about this book. Don't get me wrong; the highlights are a lot of very nice photos that are printed quite large on the pages. The decals also look superb, being printed by Cartograf and some very attractive colour profiles. I think the publishers wanted the book be too much different things. There is some bilingual English/Polish text under "Introduction" that races through the design, production and operational history of the type. Surprisingly, one of the few colour pages contains an advertisement for the Kagero shop.... I'd rather have seen something F6F related in that space... The next page is indeed F6F-related but of very suspect useability; 5 smallish colour photos of an static display F6F warbird on an airshow under the rather grandiose title: "Grumman F6F Hellcat In Detail". I would have been very happy if the publishers had chosen this book to be a photo book where the photos and profiles with captions would have told the tale of the Hellcat because the large photos, decals and profiles are very much worth your while! Conditionally Recommended because of the above mentioned drawbacks. I'd like to thank Kagero for the review sample of the book.
  11. Ah, I'll be attending too. I'll be bringing my Nikon D800 +Nikkor 80-400 AF-S!
  12. Noice, Wacky! Will you be present at Assen in September?
  13. Ey Andy, great progress on the Mossie!!
  14. Oh! Almost forgot.... I'm also into (aviation) photography... A couple of friends and I went to Spangdahlem AB, Germany last Friday to see if we could take some pics of the Davis-Monthan A-10's that are TDY there, at the moment. We succeeded in that, plus two Canadian CF-188 Hornets and some resident F-16CM/DM's!
  15. Ah, a legacy GSX-R 750!!!! Delicious!! I currently ride a Triumph SpeedTriple 1050 and a BMW R1200GS Adventure (both originally registered in the UK and bought 2nd-hand by me , BTW!) but I have a history in GSX-R's. Had a 1991 GSX-R 1100, 2000 GSX-R 750, 2005 GSX-R 1000K5 and currently I have a non-running 1997 GSX-R 750SRAD too.... And after putting on some aftermarket goodies:
  16. Great going, guys!!
  17. Thanks for your very nice review, Jase! I acquired a kit on Flanders' Modelling Festival in Antwerp last saturday! I think that Tamiya has a better market penetration, making it more worthwile for Eduard to invest in a set. They will onlly have that much manufacturing capacity so will be forced to make choices too... And since they're in it to make money... There's a reason that the newest kits get the AM treatment and not the old re-issues that really need it... Thanks for your tips!! Maybe not everyone wants to use their seat belts. I regularly read about that. Or maybe it's a method to make the total price of the updates less obvious at first sight... Probably some kind of marketing reason.
  18. Cracking WIP! Very good result too!!
  19. Well.... Yes, it's a lot of money... I'll be ordering an "early version", anyhow. It's a seriously large and wonderfully detailed model of a guaranteed high quality. So I'll just let Mr. Jackson pocket the profits and hope those profits may be used some day by him in making a movie trilogy of Bernard Cornwell's version of the Arthur Saga. "The Winter King", "Enemy of God" and "Excalibur". If those three novels will get the same treatment as Tolkien's work has, it will be an awesome spectacle of how the Celtic Britons fought each other and the invading Saxons at the end of the 5th Century...
