Lovely job. That Pilot figure is just insane! -

Carl, I just can’t get past the 02 interior. I know it’s correct, but it mst have been distracting for the crew, all bright and shiny, and if you got shot, red blood spatters all over that shiny light grey. Seriously, I can see why they went to 66. a smart move, actually. -
I must be crazy, B-24J on the bench.

But didn’t Ford pretty much manufacture all in house except engines? I’ve read somewhere that of all the plants, the Ford Willow Run plant was by far the most standardized. No surprise really, if you expected Ford to do it as Ford has done successfully for decades previous. I’m getting an ongoing education on these planes. With all the plants churning out Liberators, 24/7/365, logistics and standardization must have been a living nightmare. Even with Lancs, just trying to keep North American production somewhat standardized with British production turned into a logistical nightmare. And there was only one single overseas plant to deal with... -
I’ve bought several items from him, John. He’s one of the few shops that Revell P-51D-5s in stock. I’ve never had issues with him, and Loic has always been straight up and honest to deal with.

Agreed, Peter. I’ve always prided myself on my freehand, but actually, the pattern’s not far off. It can be fixed and yes, I can roll some worms and that’ll definitely help. The color fallouts are good. I lightened it a bit already and will do some patchwork once I get the pattern perfect. There’s plenty of variation now, but some lighter areas will help as well. Hey, that’s what makes this fun! -

Hubert, it’s tough. Old habits die hard. Now explain the wood grain floor and the hand crank to close the canopy. And where’s the tailwheel? Everyone knows tricycles are for kids. -

Good deal, Carl. I’ve seen a few of these binned in frustration when someone builds themselves into a corner with this one. -

Carl, there are VERY serious errors on these extremely vague instructions. Brett Green on HS published an errata list for the instructions on this kit. In my opinion, it is ABSOLUTELY necessary for a pain free completion of this kit. Do a search online and if you can’t find it, I should have it somewhere. the nacelle parts are handed, and are almost indistinguishable from each other. And the instruction call outs are wrong in spots. Seriously, Do not proceed further without that sheet. It’s about a page and a half, and walks you through the sequences, start to finish. Ok, I looked quickly and found it. Read this. It’ll save your sanity. http://www.hyperscale.com/2008/features/bf110c732erratabg_1.htm -

So, everyone knows I suck at jets. Most know I suck at no Luftwaffe camo patterns. So, let’s try the three time grey that the kit supplies decals for. Yes, there’s also a Russian blue scheme, but this has to be OOB, so grey it is. So i carefully plan my attack, and......... Missed it by THAT much, Chief! it looks absolutely NOTHING like it should. Colors are not where they should be. Back to the drawing board, or at least we’ll do a few color line “adjustments” where needed. Yeah, we can fix it. I HATE masks when doing camo, although I know hat certain subjects, like British WW2 aircraft need to be masked and painted. -

Good GRIEF, that is amazing work. Impressive work, my friend, it’s an ambitious project and it’s good to see you’re well on your way. I’ve heard that taking the Revell kit road to RF-4C is a real adventure, but you’re kicking butt and taking names. In awe -

Phenomenal build, Rob, just phenomenal! I just love the 2800, but yours is a whole lot cleaner than any I remember living with. But this Jug is almost new, so it looks picture perfect to me in every way. -
Yep. The student pilot was completely innocent. And his wife was standing right there filming the entire thing. I'm not buying the driver's excuse. In Texas, aviation is a way of life. We have aircraft manufacturers all around, everyone knows someone working at Lockheed Martin, LTV (previous), Convair (previous) NAA (previous), Mooney, Bell Helicopter, you name it. How on EARTH do you miss seeing an airplane? I've driven that road, and roads like it often enough, and believe me, you're VERY aware you're on airport land. There are much better warning signs up at all airports now, and if you must cross the threshold of a runway, you're well aware of that fact. If that 172 had been a Chieftain or a 421, the automobile driver would have been DOA.

Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in Modelling Discussion
Hey, CC, yes, that's why I did this last night, to avoid blowing up his build thread. They're going to try to move all of the really decent tweaks pics and conversations you guys were having to this thread, and use this as the new spot to post that. I think, given a few builds. we can accumulate a gold mine of tweaks, ideas, and work arounds. -

Agreed. I’m not a huge fan of video reviews, but when someone puts time, effort, and does a thoughtful and fact filled unbiased review, I like them. Nige’s Lanc review was top notch. Had to watch it on TOS though. Couldn’t find it on the YouTube channel. Subscribed
