  3. Great comments thanks all
  4. Lovely work
  5. A bit more progress this weekend The nacelle is just about done. I will add the compass cover later in the build. It's painted in what WNW call DH2 grey (tamiya Xf66) and is ready to put to one side. I have also done the engine this weekend it was painted aluminium on the crank case. With Gunze metal colour steel on the cylinders. At the base of the cylinders I lightly sprayed metallic blue. I used fine electrical wire for the plug leads.
  6. This is awesome work nice one
  7. OK so progress update time The huge seat belt has been painted and thd seat has been put in place. I shaded the inside of the nacelle where the framing was and the whole lot has been put together next step.

  10. OK decision made bullet bitten I've ordered some of Radu's pe turnbuckles with a fret of wire terminals also for the double wires
  11. That's it sign me up for knitting too
  12. That is right Bill. I think a lot of people look at kits like this and it puts them off. It shouldn't
  13. Yeah I know Bob I used them on an albi DVA But for a dh2 it's almost as much as the kit costs and one of my unwritten rules is no one piece of aftermarket should cost more than the kit
  14. Thanks guys. Yes I know why the AM stuff is so expensive because its a PITA to make and I've seen the difference in the types of wire on the destructions. I looked at the brengun ones but they seem to be out of stock every where. I did like the method on the Ww1 site and I'm considering that too
  15. Thanks Bill I now have 2 build logs to follow. The only thing that's really bothering me about the rigging is turnbuckles, simply because of how much its going to cost I worked out there are over 100 points to buckle at bobs prices that's well over £40 for eyelets and tube. I'm wondering if there is a cheaper solution. I looked at gaspatch and when I picked myself up off the floor that was a non starter too. Right now I'm thinking about just using tube cut to the right length. Albion alloys do a set of 100 for £12 which is better but I do worry that it may not look right. Anybody have any other cost effective solutions out there?
  16. Soooooo I'm building this for a ww1 gb over on another site and thought I'd share it here It Wingnut Wings so it goes together a treat so far anyway More progress soon I have to say thanks to James Hatch forthis and talking me into it

  18. I have now finished this
  19. Hmmm a "how to" ill see what I can do it was pretty quick to be honest. I started with a top coat of RLM 75 Then a thin mix of gunze RLM76 (about 60% thinner 40% paint) at around 12 psi with the nozzle close to the surface about 3cm away if you have a dual action airbrush screw the trigger lock up so you just get a 3mm line on a piece of plasticard. I then drew a rounded ziz zag on the surface in small areas I then went in a rounded zigzag in the another direction overlaying the first pattern. It is important to not do your overlays in right angles I will post some pictures of the process at some point when I get some more plasticard
