Looks great! I'm just curious, which version did you start with? -
I have a personal hypothesis...it’s going to be an F-14! I think they had so moch good press with their 1/48 kit, it only makes sense.

Unfortunately, work has stalled. My back is a wreck, and the Doc didnt want to do surgery to fix it, so they put me on "pain management" where they throw a bunch of drugs at you you that do anything but control pain. Well after two weeks of being in a daze, doing nothing, and not wanting to do anything, I quit the drugs and im back to plain old NSAIDs. the other drugs didnt do a damn thing but mess with my mind and make me twitch like a crack whore all night with no sleep. After being off of them for a few days I am feeling 100% better, still have back pain, but I can at least deal with it. My next step on the P-40s is to start laying down some seam filler, then do a LOT of sanding. So far, only the F/L conversion is ready for primer. This weekend is IPMS Middle Tennessee, so I might also dust off a couple built kits and enter them.

Hope you get it too!

Tamiya F4U-1D Corsair: Update: 2/1019

Excellent work! Perfect cockpit! -
Yup, you are correct, they gave the decals for an L model with the long tail. When I first looked at that picture, it looked like a 203. I think that everyone will need aftermarket decals anyway, Trumpy is not known for decals. I bought a Zots sheet, so it has both short and long tails on it.

Different plane, same squadron, 209 and 203. 209 is an F, 209 is an L model with the long tail. I built my grey matter F/L conversion as an L. I personally will buy two of these new F's when they come out.

I think his wife leaves him unsupervised on the weekends....must be how he gets all that bench time.

I agree, I tried Vallejo (crap), mr surfacer, Tamiya, but Badger Stynilrez is the best primer i EVER used, it fixes itself even when you screw up and flood an area, it always self levels, does not need any thinning, retarders, etc. The stuff sticks to anything! even unwashed resin. I have a dozen colors of it, i have already gone through an entire bottle of black and white in the past year. The only bad thing about it, it will not survive freezing, so you can keep it in unheated garages, sheds, etc. And you want to buy it when the weather is warm, i have heard of people ordering it during the winter and it coming to them clumpy. Once it dries, it is bulletproof, but can still be removed with alcohol, just like any other acrylic. I have NEVER had any tape lift using this. I have heard horror stories about Vallejo primer, I had mr surfacer recently flake off of resin, I had to sand it before it would stick. My second choice is Tamiya rattle can primer, although expensive and inefficient, it works great for very large items, like 1/43 millenium falcons, or 1/350 ships.

I actually use everything, paint with Tamiya and AK for airbrush, Vallejo for brush, I use oils, clay washes, pastels, etc. I dont lock myself into any one thing, I use what gives me the best finish or result. on small stuff, its hard to mask for airbrush, so I brush paint.

Not my cats, but I could find that picture with dogs in it.

Can’t wait to see it, I scratchbuild all the detail when I built mine. I could not find the resin when I built mine.

Ernie, maketar will custom print text masks for you. I did it for my Fisher Cougar.
