Thanks for posting. I would like to attend such an event.... I'll have to check if any are nearby. Lots of interesting builds! The snow blower build made me chuckle! It's cool that you met with Andy. If I had met him , I would have suggested a big-scale M3 Lee for his next release, but hey, that's just me.

Well, after the SMK fiasco......I started another kit build. The Tamiya Churchill.. An ancient kit, it has required some putty on the turret but has, so far, been a quick build. -
Thanks. This tank had good armor, great gun, but terrible transmission and drive train reliability issues. It used captured ww2 German Maybach engines and in total....only about 60 of these tanks were made. Anyway, I think it was really a cool-looking tank. Its use of the Char 1 bis type tracks makes it really stand out ,I think, and I'm really looking forward to building this one!

Thanks Rob. I was wondering if others used these and their opinions of them. By the looks of it they work well.

Great progress Carl! Can't wait to see it lighted up! -
Some more items today: From Amusing Hobby, their ARL-44 France Heavy Tank (35AO25) in 1/35. An obscure French tank that went from adoption to being a range target in just a few years. My first Amusing Hobby kit, it looks pretty good. It is nicely molded, and comes with photo-etch, and working individual track links. Also, from AK Interactive their Weathering Pencils For Modeling. I've been eyeing these for a while and finally found some at a reasonable price. I thought I would give them a try. There's 37 pencils in the set and they can be used dry or with water. And yes, another set of Friulmodel tracks. This time, their ATL-193 for FCM 36 French tank. I bought these for the ICM kit as the kits' rubber tracks.....not so good. I posted that kit on this thread, along with other kits back on March 11. The kit is otherwise very nice....although the two paint schemes look daunting.

Posting Sci Fi & car builds?

Good question. A Sci-Fi section might be a welcome addition. I recently Purchased some Sci Fi kits, mostly War of the Worlds related and wondered where I'd post them...that is, if I ever make them! BTW....Welcome to our forum! -

Thanks Carl. No, I don't think using debonder will be worth the effort. Plus, I did something perhaps really stupid by spraying it with accelerator after Trying to wipe the glue off.... It did seem to remove some glue at first before hardening into a real mess. Kind of serves me right as I was getting frustrated and irritable trying to glue the engine screen shown in my picture. I should have put the model aside....cooled down a bit. Instead I became careless, an invitation for accidents. Anyway, I ordered a new kit at a good price and I'll try again. Until then, I'll start a new kit. I'm looking at Takom's Little G13 Swiss Hetzer. -
Lots of choices here to look into.... I drink Becks mostly (now US brewed) And Guiness Extra stout.

Well, disaster today.....on the SMK. While trying to glue on a part with ca. An entire capful of CA dropped On the model destroying the kit.....As I See it this kit can no longer be finished. I see no way to remove the CA spilled all over the back of this Model. Perhaps the undamaged parts, wheels, turrets etc can be used on a new kit.......Mad As Hell! Addendum: I just ordered another SMK kit from Scalehobbyist. Oh well....Hell.....Tomorrow is another day. By the way ScaleHobbyist has these for $46.00...A good price, I was lucky to find one. -

More work on the SMK Construction work mostly done.....painting in near future. Some minor putty needed in a few places, but otherwise went together well. Tiny transparent vision blocks a pain to put in place. I will not be using the kit tracks, but will instead be using Friulmodel tracks. A big, odd-looking, tank this one! . -

Another box of Friulmodel tracks today. This time, their; ATL-10 for the KV-1 and KV2 Soviet tanks. I'll use these on my Tamiya kV-1 and later perhaps buy another set of these for my Tamiya KV-2. Not really needed for these kits as both have excellent link & length tracks included....I just happen to think Friuls are a fun option. Anyway, still working on my Takom SMK that will also have friuls on it.

Sad to hear that. The mail here is pretty quick. Even orders from Australia get here within a week. It's amazing, considering the mail service is government run. -

Been working on Takom's SMK...... Got the hull and wheels mostly done. Only problem was the grab handles on the hatches didn't fit.....the location holes had to be drilled out larger.
