  1. Your work looks great so far! I'll be watching for sure!.
  2. Very cool. Reminds me of my many attempts at building balsa models in the 70's of which only one I completed; A Stirling models Boeing P 26 Peashooter . That was before laser cut balsa parts. I'd like to try one of the new kits but I bet butryate dope isn't politically correct these days. Anyway,..... I'm probably drifting from the point..I know yours is a full scale plane.... It must be the exposure to the model airplane dope when I was a kid. Did I tell you I made balsa models as a kid? Yes? Oh look! A badger!
  3. I've been working on the tracks. I did a short section last night and with all the sanding and fitting needed it took a long time to get it working properly and flexible. The track doesn't fit the sprocket that well but I think it will work out fine. Finishing the tracks will be a big project before some painting begins.
  4. Finished most of the assembly. The barrel seams have been taken care of and most of the turret done. I painted the NSVT machine gun.
  5. Looks great Rob. I had fun with my build. I now want to try the Japanese version. With regards to the tracks; mine developed a split on one side after sitting on the shelf for months. I have been unable to fix the gap.
  6. I was working on the barrel last night. It's plastic and made up of two halves requiring two long seams to be dealt with including some work with small files. I still need to finish that. Also I'm not sure how I'm going to include the tow cables as I already glued the tow hooks in place. The kit requires trapping the tow cables in the hooks as you glue them in place. I'm thinking of cutting the eyes of the cables with a razor saw and regluing at installation. Anyway, I missed out on some detailing chances as I was installing the various lamps on the tank. I have a resource the shows the wiring For each but I can't see how I could do it now with the lamps installed. Here is a link http://www.primeportal.net/tanks/azrael_raven/t-72_raac_museum/
  7. Here are some pictures of my work on this big model so far. So far so easy.... Like a scaled up 1/35 model. Fit is good , the plastic is very heavy duty. This model was clearly designed as an RC model at one time. One thing that I look forward with with dread are the tracks; each link has about five sprue attachment points that need to be cut off and sanded.....A daunting task as there are about 180 of them I guess. Yikes! Anyway, it'll be a fun project I think.
  8. Getting started on Trumpeter's huge 1/16 T-72 tank. Here are some pictures. Just to give you an idea how big this thing is it's sitting on a 18" × 24" cutting mat
  9. I'm for one as well.............if it ever sees the light of day. I'm still waiting for Hobby Boss to make a 1/18 Brewster Buffalo.
  10. Thanks; I decided to get this one after using a bizarre Chinese holder I got on Amazon that was only universal in that it didn't hold any type of airbrush all that well. I'm really impressed with the build quality of this Iwata holder.
  11. Your Spitfire looks great!
  12. This came today; an Iwata universal dual airbrush holder. I works with all my airbrushes except my Paasche model H airbrushes, so not entirely universal but still very nice.
  13. Always a big fan of the Wildcats. Who would of thought these tough, stubby, barrel-shaped, Little planes could have been so formidable contenders against their Japanese counterparts. I'll be watching. Paul.
  14. Sad to see a war bird in such a sorry state, but then again, very useful pics.
  15. Scale blasphemy? Yes, if you mean a lot of money for the scale, but in the hands of a talented modeler the results of a smaller scale build can be priceless. I recently looked at the new Tamiya f-14 release by Tamiya.......$103.00 for a 1/48 scale kit ? jeeez! I would love to build it...but. The 1/16 Trumpy T 34 seems like a better value given its size and parts count but admittedly, the mold quality is nowhere near Tamiya quality although pretty nice.
  16. Yes, I just got an email from SB saying so. I've really grown a liking for the Brothers. They're a great source for models and supplies. The big T 34 I just got was from them. I was able to get $16 off the price because of the rewards point thing they have. Every little bit helps. And because of my location shipping is fast. That cobra you posted looked like an excellent kit and your build was exceptional. Something to think about. Thanks; Paul the Belugawhaleman.
  17. Well, I did it again. Another Trumpeter T 34 in 1/16 scale arrived today. This time a T 34/85 '44 factory 174. That makes Three of these big T 34 kits I have now plus Trumpeter's big SU 100.
  18. Nice! A lot of great stuff.
  19. This came today ,it's a replacement barrel for the Classy Hobby Pz.Kpw. II Ausf. L "Luchs" made by ABER in 1/16 scale.
  20. Yes, they make an early and a late model.....good stuff but small.
  21. An outstanding finish to a truly spectacular build thread!. I really want to build this model, but I don't think mine would be anything in comparison to yours.
  22. Well, it's been a while since I've built anything. Because of my relocation, and other problems, I had to put my modeling on hold. I had stored my modeling supplies and models at another Location while getting things settled. I now am in the process of getting my supplies and work area together to begin again. I'm looking forward to building a model at my new home. I'll Try to present a WIP post asap. It'll probably be in 1/16 scale as I'm partial to that scale, but that little Tamiya BT-7 is very tempting......... Well, we'll see. Regards; Paul
  23. I also got these today: 1/16 decal sets for panzer 1, a and b models from Star decals.
  24. Well, another 1/16 kit. A Classy Hobby Panzer II L Luchs. I was concerned after reading a review on Perth military modeler that the kit had lots of flash and mold lines to clean. But I'm glad to say that the kit that I got that doesn't seem to be the case. The parts look OK to me. They might have reviewed an early sample or something.
