My afternoon project that took me all week

Scott Somew mighty nice renovation work. Sure wish I had those talents but I don't and always need to hire a contractor. -
John Sure does. Nothing is ever easy these days.

Scott Terrific plan. I have a few notices of the out of stock paints I need and as soon as Sb receives their restock, I'm placing a nice size paint order. -
Thaks John Making progress a little each day. Just never realized how much work it can be to be a Oldie but Goldie from back in the late sixties. And I thought it was going to be a smooth sailing build.

Scott Nice way of stocking up on paints so when needed, they are in the paint stash. I've been starting to do that as of late as well, since buying paints when starting a project these days always leads to a lot of 'Out of Stock' notes and a lot of time trying to find what I need. -
Carl Best thing since sliced bread 😉

Thanks Phil Old kits just have certain issues and the older the more of them. Wouldn't it be grand to see how these subjects would be like re-molded with today's technology.

Sasha Amazing work - looking so good and thank you for the link. -
Gaz How I feel when I use fly is impossible for me to put into words. Flying is both an experience and passion. Being a passenger isn't the same experience at all as 'mastering the sky'. Sitting up front, seeing the world in front of you, is lightyears different then flying as a passenger on a commercial aircraft. Some love the open sea and piloting a boat: sail or powered - I'm sure it's not the same. Some are invigorated by different types of driving experiences. Why we all have different passions. I've never understood why but we do. I'm not a boat guy and don't do well riding in the back of cars. Yes, I drive an SUV ... no rhyme or reason. Aerobatics is a different type of flying. All I can tell you there is a feeling of pride and joy I experienced after my first solo flight many decades ago, that I still remember every minute of it today (and that was in 1965), passing my check rides and taking my first passenger up (who would become my wife), are experiences I also still remember vividly. Of course, doing the kind of flying you are talking about is for the military and air shows only. " low-level buzzing of unsuspecting pedestrians" is something a pilot would never do; it's illegal and not only will you lose your license, most likely you will be heavily fined and maybe behind bars. When I flew, I always flew by the rules; when you solo - you know how to fly but when you pass your flight test for your license, you not only demonstrate your flying skills but as important, you are a safe pilot and safety always comes first.

Martin Pretty cool -
Rob Delicate and beautiful work. Nothing as demanding as the precision of PE work. especially on ship models. Terrific work on correcting the Big Guns and the gun turrets are looking so good. One channels I've been following for years is The Model Shop and Steve is in a league by himself with his 1/200 ship build plus he also does aircraft. I've followed his HMS Hood build to conclusion and now he is about halfway through the 1/200 Bismark. His intricate PE work, mainly full Pontos sets is amazing and he always cuts the PE from the fret with a sharp blade. How he even sees the parts is beyond me and I find his work inspiring and well beyond my capabilities.

Bill Looking so good and adding the brass pins is a great idea and should add a lot of strength to the float attachment. Your Kingfisher is looking mighty good all buttoned up, as I can see details KH included that are completely missing on the old Monogram kit: both the interior and exterior. What I wouldn't give for a set of the gorgeous canopy masks ❗
-
Thanks Bill, much appreciated. Not too far from priming and then painting and then the Kingfisher will be looking the part.
-
Thanks Rob I only wish I could have cut the paints out individually but the framing has almost no relief and is so light, I could hardly see it. The strip method was all that seemed to work and believe me, it's far from perfect. The biggest issue deciding to go with the pre war Yellow Wings scheme: the decals. The kit decals are wrong for a battleship Kingfisher; USN markings are incomplete and or missing. I purchased the Yellow Wing set: 48-033 thinking it was complete but it only contained battleship stencils and none of the needed USN insignias and squadron logos are included. Yellow Wings has shut down and I can't find the sheet(s) I need, so decals are going to be a Sherlock Holmes deal for sure. Somehow I'll figure it out; fingers crossed. .

Thanks Gaz Finally, the masking is done and finishing up the seams. Can't wait to see the Kingfisher in primer this coming week. Not going to get much done this week with a full slate of NFL Playoff Games. Big Game for me: Giant vs Eagles; GO BIG BLUE🏈
-
Thanks Chris, very much appreciated. The masks are now done and nearly five full work sessions of cutting tiny strips on the Infinity Cutting Mat - just a bear to do. If only the engraved panel lines where a bit heavier I might have been able to cut out the individual panels but just no way, just strip by strip. Not to mention my eyesight wasn't what it once was which added to the mix. Back to finishing up the seams and then hopefully priming - see how it goes. Yup, completely agree, the old kits have a certain charm, loads of nostalgia and reflect the technology of their age. Still worth the work as in its scale. nothing newer or better.

Carl As we say in the states: you hit a home run with that sale.⚾🎯

Rob Go for it - the kit will be putty in your hands 😉
