  1. Exatamente ! (As they say here in Portugal ) Hubert
  2. I think the tires are OK, but the tread (i.e. the spacing of the font wheels) is still too large. Which dtetracts from the look but not the quality of your build and the outstanding finish you achieved. As for the details of the Shelby collection car, they represent the car in its final version before it was retired, not necessarily as it was at one time of its career, like Le Mans 1966. If the wheels are glued, so be it. Only the PITA guys like me will comment on it anyway ... Otherwise, the way out is probably to thin the hub of the wheels outside of the disc to visually reduce the tread. Hubert
  3. Well, the engine issue is not a big deal anymore for me (drops casually Mr Superboaster šŸ˜ ). This is what stopped me dead in my tracks on the venerable Monogram Gruman Gulfhawk, especially when I found that the replacement Vector engine that I bought had an uneven distribution of the 9 cylinders around the crankcase, to leave room for the bottom oil sump šŸ˜” ... Since then I got equipped with a 3D-printer and have designed 3 1/32 radial engines (a Wright J6-9 for the Mystery Ship, a R-985 for ... well whatever used this one, starting with the Gee Bee R-2 and Sikosrsky S-39, and a G&R Mistral 9 Kdrs when I thought it could have been installed on the PZL P11c 1932 prototype at the Paris airshow (so now I am left with designing a MS-225 to go around the engine). So another radial ... šŸ˜Ž And, in fairness, since then, many AM manufacturers have released R-1820s, like Eduard, AIMS, and others I can't remember... Ditto for the cowlings, not that difficult to design and print. Tell me what HpH did for the supply of the civilian seats. Otherwise, I am sure we can find a way together. As for the fit, ofcourse I am sure it can be worked around. What bothers me more is not to loose the surface detail that HPH have included. Those rivets were a prominent feature of the DC-3, especially with the polished aluminium fuselage, and around the outer wings junctions. Take care, my friend. Hubert
  4. You should rightly be proud of your GT 40, Peter. Here are pics of the real deal, the Ken Milesā€™ car from the Shelby collection. Hubert
  5. Beautiful result with the GT 40, Peter. May I venture a small criticism, that jumped at me when looking at your pics ? The tread of the front wheels seems a bit wide compared to the body of the car. This is probably a kit design issue, but I could not help noticing it, and my hunch was vindicated by checking some pics of the real car, which was put up for sale not too long ago ā€¦ Now, how about a Ken Miles figure to go with it ? Hubert PS edit : the pics I looked at are the ones of the replica built for the film ā€¦
  6. Very nice result with the Heinkel šŸ‘ ! Well done, Kevin ! Hubert
  7. By the way, Mirek Oā€™s build thread of the DC-3 on Martinā€™s link shows the difficulties to be expected with the kit, namely the seams of the wings leading edges, the underside of the fuselage, and the wings-to-fuselage fit and seams ā€¦ Hubert
  8. I was sure Martinn would far more efficient than me to find the threads on the Czech modelling forums Thank you my friend šŸ‘ And I also found out that the HPH C-47 FINISHED build is featured in Canforaā€™s Wingspan #4, which I duly ordered (My wallet does not thank you, Ernie šŸ˜” ) Hubert
  9. I have something like 8, or maybe more, HPH kits in the stash, including the DC-3, for which (well, the C-47) I have read - and seen - horrendous build reviews as far as fit is concerned. And it's true of most of the HPH kits I have. So I may take your word one day, building one of those, but not the SB2C, which is not at all my cup of tea, when I stop getting sidetracked . When all cussing and swearing is evaporated, you ARE doing a great job with a pig of a kit, no question about it. Hubert
  10. Sorry to bring a (slightly) dissonant voice, but, looking at some pics, it looks more like an overscale rendition of the real deal than a totally inaccurate one ā€¦ https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234984031-curtiss-sb2c-helldiver/ Not to say that, like HPH kits in resin, these cannot be really challenging. On the other hand, where do you find such unusual subjects (says the scratchbuilder at heart that I am) ? Hubert
  11. Excellent purchase, Peter. The quality of the tool is absolutely great. Just be careful, the blade has a tendency to try living a life of its own ā€¦ unless I have not found the proper way to lock it in place. Hubert
  12. On an ordinary boat, the oars should probably be more Ā« natural Ā», but as this is a yacht, they look totally in their place in blue, IMHO. Hubert
  13. If itā€™s a genuine original GT40, I am not sure Iā€™d dare drive it on open roads ā€¦ Too precious to risk in the traffic Hubert
  14. I donā€™t get it ā€¦ is it a Schnellboot or a Langsamboot ? Inquiring minds want to know ā€¦ Hubert
  15. Not at all a criticism of your work, Carl, as itā€™s really nice and impressive, but the camouflage separation emphasizes the funky wing root profile of the kit ā€¦ Hubert
  16. Itā€™s actually there, but I think I can enhance it more. The blue background and the iPhone picture donā€™t go well together to show the nuances I see IRL. Still, I will take your advice and make the oil grime more visible. Hubert
  17. Whatever you choose Mark, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you go on Modelshipworld and read the beginnersā€™ advices there. Even more important - compulsory IMHO - is to read the Ā« banned manufacturers Ā» article on the kit section. There are unfortunately a lot of pirates in this business, mostly from the Far East, who unashamedly copy the work of others, like Chris Wattonā€™s. Better not give them some of our hard-earned cash. And some websites devoted to the hobby unfortunately support this piracy, which has none of the charm of Ā« Pirates of the Carribean Ā». Hubert
  18. I still donā€™t understand why Border went for 1/35 rather than 1/32ā€¦ For those who think the size difference is inconsequential, a 1/35 kit occupies only 76 % of the volume of the same 1/32 one ā€¦ Hubert
  19. No specific experience on this set, John, but a VERY positive one on their Saab J-29 detail sets. Plus an outstanding customer service. In short, I am now sold and a fan of Resin2detail ! Hubert
  20. Could you say this place is a tad windy ? Hubert
  21. Well, I think I can call the undercart done, painted, weathered and grimed... Not so with the main floor, where I stalled my painting efforts pending regluing some parts which had gone unglued, and replacing at least one part which has chosen to pursue her life with the carpet monster rather than staying with the rest of the family ... Using airbrushed MRP tire black, dope linen, red oxide primer, exhaust soot, plus some washes from AK, Mig and Tamiya, and finally some Molotov chrome, I think I pretty much nailed the look I wanted for the undercart, and feel pretty smug about it. Well, tell me what you think and if I can still do some things different. I'll let the pics speak for themselves. Hubert
