I have written it many times already, but, OOB, KH’s Texan is good only to represent « Deb », the warbird on the box cover. « Deb » itself, like so many warbirds is hodgepodge of versions, and not representative, or only vaguely, of any specific T-6 version. The KH kit is not bad, although with some inaccuracies, that most people can live with. The only glaring one is the wheelbase, too narrow by a few mm, but that is easy to correct by removing the MLG gluing recess in the wings, and the moving them outboard. Keep going, Scott Hubert

I have mixed feelings about GBs: 1) My record at finishing anything in a GB is simply 0. So that does not augur well for my participation in any one. 2) On the other hand, provided the subject is within my realm of interest, I enjoy participating, and they push me into subjects I would never had thought about begore, like the Japanese GB on LSP: I did not finish it but actually started my scratchbuilt "Hansa" for it. And the Ukraine GB here: I would never have bought a tram kit without this incentive. And I really enjoyed it ! I did not finish in time because all my modelling has been stalled in the last 2 months as I prioritised other life matters, but I will finsh it, one day. Would I participate in another GB ? Most likely, depending on the subject. Some ideas that could appeal to me and hopefully to others: The first 20 years of jets. From the "Great one" to WWII: 20 years that changed aviation. 80 to 800 km/hour (or 800 to 8000 km/h ) Hubert

This new technology is great, but sometimes can be irritating. I was about to send a message while in my car the other day, using the voice recognition system. The car is Japanese, the language English, the author of the language - me -French. So my "thank you" message was turned into ... guess what ... "F...k you"! At least the system asks for a confirmation before sending the message. A embarassing situation was narrowly averted Hubert

In this case, looking at the shape of the island and the piece of visible CV number, it’s an Essex- class carrier, and this SB2-C seems to have looped 180° in the crash barrier. The MLG leg may actually follow the airframe rather than fly ahead of it … The pic is absolutely spectacular. Hubert

Sorry to read your difficulties, Peter… But I am sure you will prevail in the end A small technical side comment: what you call the air brakes are in fact the radiator exhaust flaps … However, knowing what they are does not necessarily make them easier to fit Hubert

Great result on a kit that is clearly not choice #1 for a Corsair in 1/32 scale 👍 ! Can I venture a comment about something that’s bothering me ? The two wings do not look to fold in the same plane, with the left one forward of the right one … I double checked both the profile and top view and this does not seem to be a parallax issue with the picture. But then again, it may be feature of the Corsair I am ignorant of … Still, fantastic rescue from the SOD … Hubert

Actually, the key issue was that its Peregrine engine was the end of the line of development from the immensely successful Kestrel. Whilst not a bad engine per se, it was early 30s technology, and the next-in-line, the Merlin, was using the ideas developed for the R used in the Supermarine S6/S6b that won the Schneider Trophy. It was also based on 50% more displacement than the Peregrine. In short, the Merlin had a lot of potential, when the Peregrine was already rather at the end of its development path, and when wartime pressures forced priorities, the choice was easy. It was also clear in the late 30s, that fighters would need more than 1000 HP (just ask the French if they think they stuck too long with the Hispano Suiza Y family, and whether they would have preferred more HP in their fighters in 1940). With hindsight, priorising the Merlin was absolutely the right decision to make One can only dream of the combination of the Whirlwind airframe with the Merlin … End of thread drift … Hubert Hubert

I am with you, Rob. Both the 109 or Spit looks so much better in flight without the undercarriage visible. Mind you, this feeling is also true, albeit 10 times more, for the F-22. All wrong from all angles on the ground, and great-looking in flight. Very nice progress on the Spit, Peter. I always enjoy watching your builds. Looking forward to the completed pics. Hubert

I can also vouch for BNA as a topcalss worldwide supplier. Fast, reliable, and generally cheap. I remember getting some Eduard stuff from them cheaper, shipping included, as from Eduard directly. Abysmal carbon balance, but the logic of having a Czech item shipped down under, than back to Europe, for less than directly from one European country to another still baffles me. Hubert

Just be careful and test before. The best CA debonder is acetone, but it loves plastic as well, although its fast evaporation can help mitigate the potential damage. Btw, I have read, but never tried yet, that acetic acid (as in good old vinegar) was a debonder for eppxy glue. Hubert

Not only is the kit’s wing profile off by a lot, but it’s also set at a wrong incidence … And yes it’s A LOT of work to put it right … Nice work on the Lib’ , Carl 👍 !
