Well, I had to go back to work and switch-on the PC on which I do Solidworks' designs, but I recovered some screen captures of what I did 4 years ago. The cylinder design is not complete (and has some bugs) and you will notice that I even "assembled" one cylinder in a reverse way . That gives you an idea of what I had achieved so far. The design is in 1/32 scale. Hubert

They do, and despite their typically British ungainly design, they somehow looked cool (at least until they got pregnant - and useful at last - with the big tank). As for the kit: 1) This is life when you have young children at home 2) I should have stored them better if I wanted to keep them longer 3) it was just an advanced call on their ultimate fate. Until recently, and my new wife, I was binning the finished kits after some time. On the contrary, Blender is very good and very capable. It just requires a mind frame I have not. But if you are in organic design or 3D animation, you can produce wonders with Blender. Check it online to see what you can do. Hubert

Blender is a free -yet very sophisticated - 3D design software. Never could even get started on it Hubert

The technology involved is short-run molds. They can be developed from the traditional masters HpH used for their resin kits. And selling 1000 units is no doubt better than selling 100 to 300. Especially as the cost of silicone molds is repeated as these molds wear out quickly ... I am with you Tony. I wanted a DC-3. I might even have bought a C-47 kit to make it into a DC-3, but not at 700 € (European price including VAT) Hubert

If you are an old drawing board draughtsman, then you are an in-born parametric designer. You thinks 2D dimensions and angles before thinking 3D ... Don’t even think about using Blender. Designing a shape without entering dimensions seems .... very very very alien to me Hubert

I like the idea of them moving to short-run IM kits. And I have seen some great news in the list, like the Wyvern or the SM 79. One little more effort, and release the C-47 as an injection-molded DC-3, cheaper than the resin kit, please Infinity Models Hubert

Given that a battery has only 20% of the energy capacity of the same weight of kerosene, and that, AFAIK, chasing unnecessary weight is still the ABOLUTE #1 rule in aircraft-design-dos-and-don'ts, the time when we see an all-electric passenger plane is still very very very very far in the future ... Very impressive detailing work ! As for the white, a small touch of ochre would probably break-off the coldness of the base color(yeah, I know, white is not a color ). And it would blend nicely with subsequent weathering. Hubert

If you focus on the cylinders, I have done the design for the crankcase and accessories. I should actually resume work on the cylinder-and-head design .... Hunert

Did you design this one, Ron ? I stalled on my own design, at the cylinder design stage. Anyway, I am interested in a 1/32 version, and have the printer to print it. I also know for sure that Lukasz of Lukgraph was looking for one R-985 design. Hubert
