  1. Love the subtle color changes on that A7!
  2. Hope you enjoy your Oeffag. I'll look forward tlo seeing it here. I was hoping WNW would eventually get around to the Oeffag machines. But I fear they'll never appear in larger scale.
  3. Glad to see you back in business! Looks like something you can weather one to your hearts content! I'm having a shitty day...modelwise.... Lost a machine gun and it's mount and my tank just won't look complete without it, I painted the damn thing two days ago. But have torn apart the house looking for it. Mojo killed. I can cannibalize an older build... but I'm not feeling keen.
  4. I'm not married to any scale... but one 1/48 biplane and I divorced any WWI below 1/32. My fumble fingers are too good at popping off the upper wing.
  5. Wow! That is amazingly bad. I'm glad there's no permanent damage.
  6. I don't understand what you mean by "panel color differences". There are a few unpainted areas on the tail of the F-4, maybe because they get sooty... I never asked why when I was in an RF-4 squadron for a few months. When I was there, they were painted in the 1980's era gray anti-radar scheme overall... except for those few areas on the tail.
  7. They look great, Rob!
  8. Love what you've done with both builds! I like the idea with the liquid mask. I may have to try that, myself.
  9. It all looks good to me! I have done the same thing while airbrushing a clear coat... forgot to put the cap on the damn AB! Were I ever to do the F4, I was considering this kit. But I have a lot of others to build before I do another jet.
  10. Thank you Phil! Please don't retire from the hobby. There are too few of us already. And life without styrene... is an unhappy life. Besides... It isn't without it's warts. Thank you Carl! The masking was hard work, I'll admit. I made nine cuts for the fuselage band, three for each side. Alignment was the issue. I used all but one of the cuts. Gaz
  11. I've heard that Meng doesn't have the other kit's molds. But I wish they'd all come back.
  12. Great story... though very disappointing from his point of view.
  13. Hi John! Great looking work on this Spit. I was wondering what size photo you uploaded? If it's near the same size as shown on the web page or not. Some sites compress or expand images to fit a certain size.
  14. Excellent! I have never seen that profile before. That's a great scheme!
  15. Thank you, Rob! I'll be interested to see yours, for sure! I don;t know if I've seen the Berlin Bear in any WWI context. I'm thinking about putting the Landestuhl Wappen on an Albatros: But I need to do more research, first, To your question, yes, that is the kit lozenge. First I toned it down with a misting of grey. Not satisfied with that, I used a further misting of the grey with brown added. This was the four-color lozenge BTW. Gaz
  16. Thank you! I didn't see the fly until I was editing the photos. Quite a surprise!
  17. Sweet! I did a jug in that unit's livery a few years back.
  18. Hi everyone, Time to call another one done. No idea who the pilot was, and the color scheme is all based on my research and some help from others that know more about WWI and Fokker D.VII's than I do. And here is the photo that started it all: I had originally stressed over crinkles around the wing edge... but then I found that the real thing has crinkles in places, too. The Green and white tail is of Jasta 54. A Saxon unit. I used graphite powder to simulate wiped lubrication oil stains. A fly joined the photo-shoot destroying all sense of scale. Bastard!! More graphite powder. I hate over-weathering on aircraft models. But that's me. It's taken quite a few attempts but I finally have masking laminated props. Still need work on the wood grain, though. But I forgot to paint the prop shaft stub.... I used some armor weathering technique to highlight the louvered cowl. And I smudged the step-pads of the wing root with more graphite powder. Some under-wing spatters and dirtied up the wheels a bit. And I almost forgot the obligatory cockpit shots: Thank you for looking! Gaz
  19. Thank you, Bill. Once positioned and smoothed down, I hit the edges with a hair dryer, and they snug down pretty good, Its easy to blister them, though. And the blisters do not like to go down I let them rest overnight, then I use Mr. Mark Softer get any other edges which haven't behaved to where I want them. WNW's helpful hints say not to use any decal softener period, but that doesn't work for me... I just get more blisters. Thank you, Jeff!
