Two F-80's for perusal
BlrwestSiR replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
A nice pair of builds there John. Especially when you consider the kit isn't a shake and bake one but requires some fighting and cursing to build. I can't recall if you've done the T-33 yet as that would be an obvious one to add next. Carl -

Thanks Martin! There's a couple kits that have been released of the original version of his ship. Fine Molds did one in 1/72 and MPC did one as well, not sure of the scale. You'd have to open up a lot of panels in either case to get the hot rod look. -

They do have a passing resemblance don't they? -

Great Hobbies has one at their Ottawa store. If you order it online they'll ship it out but may take a bit longer. The price is in CAD too so may be cheaper after conversion. https://www.greathobbies.com/productinfo/?prod_id=BRN35010SP Carl -

Working on a bunch of subassemblies for the Valkyrie. Haven't gotten to the detail painting yet but almost there. A quick mock up to see what it'll look like. -
Hey Peter, glad to see you back. Even better to hear that the reno work is almost done and you've got time to spend at the bench. This is an unexpected subject but I'm looking forward to what you do with it. I've only ever built one airliner, the Minicraft 737 that I put Simpsons markings on. I still have it somewhere at my parents' house. Carl

Hobby Search has a bunch posted, usually Japanese kits. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ Scalemates often has instructions posted as well. https://www.scalemates.com/ Carl

The clear parts are definitely well done. Nice and thin and clear.

I dropped Edward off at a classmate's birthday party and hit Sunward Hobbies that was nearby. They had a couple TruColors paint sets on sale. The sets were basically the price of a single bottle so I grabbed a couple. The shop said they're going to discontinue carrying it as it's been a hard sell. That too bad as it's a great paint. BTW, if anyone is looking for the tiny square bottles of Testors enamels, they have what looks to be a full rack of them. Carl

Looks good there Martin. Looks subtle which isn't a bad thing in my books.

Maybe use a Gundam marker for the lines? They're made by Gunze and come in different widths and colours.

You're just flying through this build Ernie. That and the quality of the work too. Carl -
Martin, that's a big fear isn't it? That all these first time dog owners have to go back to work and they have no idea what to do with their dogs. So they take the easy way out and hand them off to someone else. Sigh. Glad to see you can give her a happy home, if only temporary. Carl

Let us know how those rubber brushes work out. I could see them be very useful for many things. Carl

Wheels and Wings hands down. A fully stocked hobby shop with kits, AM, supplies, reference material and staff that know their stuff. Bring an extra suitcase just in case you do visit them. Carl

Phil, the squirrels are everywhere at the moment. Our 70 lb puppy agrees with me even thought this past couple weeks have been the first time he's seen a squirrel. Fear not, I will get back to the Lanc. Very soon. -

Broke out the middle child. This is Hasegawa's 1/48 kit of the Strike Valkyrie. I have their 1/72 version and Max Factory's 1/20 one too. Got started on some preliminary paint work. -

I agree, those weld beads look excellent. Carl -
Some sci-fi and movie stuff. This is an all new kit by Hasegawa and not a re-box. I missed out on the Tumbler when it was first issued so when BanDai just reissued it with the new Batmobile I grabbed it. I think the new Batmobile looks a Dodge Charger and would fit into one of the Fast and Furious films nicely.

Some fantastic progress there Mark. -
Thanks Ernie! Please go ahead and post it. Thanks Rob! I'm really happy with the paint job as well.

Nice and clean there John. The shark mouth seems to suit the F-80/T-33 planes really well. There's an RCAF T-33 that had a shark mouth which if decals existed for I'd go through the process(torture?) and build another one. Carl

As an addendum, I opened the white box on the right side of the pic which I thought was empty. Inside were 6 bottles of Tamiya paint plus 3 more behind it. All are various shades/sheens of black. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to clean things up a bit between projects.
