  1. Have stalled on the CHET build at the moment as the kids' early return from Uni has robbed me of my airbrushing space. So I had a look in the stash and thought I'd start on something different while I waited for a spraybooth so I could work elsewhere in the house. Went for some armour as you can build before you paint although I haven't done any armour since my first ventures back into the hobby about 10 years ago which were brush painted. Went with the Meng AMX-30B2 with the Aber barrels and Friul tracks. Everything went together very well. Just a slight bit of filler around the cupola due to my own error. Didn't pay attention to how it was keyed and ended up with the machine gun pointing off at a 45 degree angle! Tracks have been burnished and the pads painted with Tamiya rubber black. First time I've used Friuls and I really like the result. They're a little fiddly and boring to get together but you do get into a rhythm and it's almost a Zen-like experience as you build them up.
  2. Hi Rob you can also try the Malsjo https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/malsjoe-glass-door-cabinet-black-stained-black-stained-60303481/ think it's similar dimensions but also has glass sides. I have one and it easily takes a 1/32 F-15C which is a fairly big beasty.
  3. Have a great day!!
  4. Looking very nice in it's all over grey Tom. The orange was a bit nasty.
  5. The instrument panel looks great.
  6. Nice start Alan. Given how little you see of the pit in these when they're closed up I think the belts look just great.
  7. Victory for perseverance Danny! Nice one.
  8. Glad to hear it went well Ron. Good luck for the other one. Gus
  9. Very funny and unfortunately quite close to the truth. Have had to edit a few photos taken at weddings, etc when the kilts are out in force! A few beers and any thoughts about keeping the knees together go out the window!!
  10. Just stunning work and completely mind-boggling!
  11. Welcome Alan, nice to see another Scot on here. It's a great, friendly place so hope you enjoy it.
  12. Missed the fun again?! Thanks for keeping the riff raff out Ernie & co. Although there's always the old Groucho quote about 'would I want to be a member of club which'd accept me?' (to paraphrase) which comes to mind at times like this!!
  13. Glad you got it sorted. The 'big deep breath and walk away' is often best. Look on the bright side you didn't glue yourself to it which is generally my default with superglue!
  14. Great finish. Interesting vehicle as Rob says... looks a bit like a Panther turret on a Tiger chassis.
  15. Very nice choice Maru. Never been near Gujarat but my cricket club had a professional back in the late 80s who came from Bharuch. He was a qualified chemical engineer and worked for one of the big fertiliser firms there while he tried to make it in state cricket. As a fast bowler that was pretty hard job in Ranji cricket back then.
  16. Inspiring dedication Maru. I'm normally chewing my fingers by 1pm if I haven't eaten so I can't imagine how hard this is to do.
  17. Good choice Rob. The Brassin one just looks a little wide to me.
  18. Bit of an understatement John! Looks like Edward Scissorhands removed it from the moulds!!
  19. They can be thinned right down without losing coverage as the pigment seems very fine. Most colours dry with a slight satin finish so I have on occasion put decals straight on top but I'd recommend a gloss coat. Tamiya X-22 works just fine bit you need to watch and not handle stuff too much until it's completely dry. As an aside Ammo now do a Clear primer in their One Shot range which actually works really nicely as a clear coat. It's not absolutely matt but looks pretty good on most aircraft for a worn look.
  20. You'll like the Ammo paints Martin. They work great with Mr Levelling so I think X-20A should be just fine as well.
  21. Okay guys, let's stick the seat on top of the fuel tank! That's a great safe place for it!!?!
  22. Have a good one!!
  23. Ah, I love a bit of Spike Milligan. My Dad was a huge Goons fan so I was indoctrinated early but as a kid in the 70s and early 80s I remember his TV shows such as Q8 which were just unlike anything else around bar maybe Kenny Everett. Each half hour show would be 10 minutes of dross, 10 minutes of funny stuff and then 10 minutes of absolute genius. You just had to tolerate the rubbish to get to the good bits - bit like Monty Python as well. His books are great as well - I can heartily recommend Puckoon if you like something distracting about the absurdities of life. I can't remember which of his military books it's in, but I always remember the story of his regiment's first casualties when they used petrol on the latrine pit as they'd run out of disinfectant!
