Hi John Hannants carries the Xtracolor paints and has the two shades you need in stock. They're £1.85 for a 14 ml tin. You might be able to order direct from them?

My grandfather was a farmer so I know it's a damn hard life Alan. He would never leave the farm at Xmas or New Year even if invited to one of his kid's for Xmas lunch, etc. Cattle always had to be fed. I take my hat off to you for what you do and it's one of the reasons we always try to support the local farmshops rather than the faceless supermarkets. Quality is also sooo much better!

1/32 Revell Fw190 F8 converted to G8

Thanks Alan. Pain has faded now so it's more the boredom that's getting to her! -

Similar over here near Stonehaven, damp and raw but also freezing at night. My wife fell on Sunday when we were out with the dogs and broke her wrist, so my bench time is going to be restricted by being having to do all the cooking, etc. Can't moan as I normally get away fairly lightly on that. I'd an uncle out in NZ who had pigs which were actually quite keen swimmers. Mind, it was a good bit warmer there than it is up here. -
Happy New Year to you Alan. Hope you're Hogmanay wasn't too boring.

Looks good Alan. Weather's been bloody chilly around here recently for working out on the farm, don't envy you. -
Hi Carl John was very easy to deal with and the package took just over 6 weeks from SA to my house which I didn't think was too bad in the current circumstances. The castings are flawless and the detail is excellent. Nice, funky blue resin as well! Cheers, Gus

Hi Phil Sorry I didn't do a WIP for this one as I've never been happy with the quality of my photos in the past. I'll try and post more here as I progress. -

Hi Carl, no it's the 1/24 Airfix one. Actually pretty big, about the same wingspan as the 1/32 F15. -

Had a week of leave from work so managed to get a lot of paintwork done on the Typhoon. All done with Tamiya acrylics. I've used the Ammo paints on my last few builds but I wasn't sure how well they'd handle all the masking needed here, so back to Tamiya as they are very robust in my experience and again, no problems here. All markings done with Maketar masks. The chipping was done using White Stuff frisket and I'll brush paint some finer chipping later once I get to the weathering. Gloss coat went on tonight so it's oils next.... -
OK, blame Hubert and Ernie for this one. Never done a big resin conversion, just used stuff like cockpits and exhausts, so I thought I'd try this. It's the Scaleworx conversion for the Atlas Cheetah E from John Wiedeman. Casting is lovely and hopefully the surgery required isn't too difficult. Inspired by Hubert's aversion to anything with camouflage the plan is to do this Before anyone comments I know the original airframe with this paint job was a Cheetah C but I defy anyone to notice the difference at 2 feet! Nice and shiny so should save a bit of time on weathering as well.

I'd second Rob and say stick with the stock gold ones. They're the ones I remember on the diecast kit I had as a kid - brush painted in black enamel with the gold wheels I thought it looked killer! Brush marks everywhere.... wish I was so easily pleased now. -
Happy New Year to one and all. Here's to a better one. I liked this logo that someone did for the year just past....

Another vote for the Macchi, that's a stunning paintjob!

Same to you Phil. Hope the new year brings you a bit more security.

Good tip Jeff. One of the reasons I've bought regularly from a couple of ebay sellers in China. They are always 'creative' on the value, so never been hit by customs taxes yet. The Japanese sellers are scrupulously honest on the other hand and I've been hammered every time. What look like cheap deals on Tamiya kits never are once you factor that in!

Congrats to all. Some great prizes there. -
Have a wonderful time everyone. Here's hoping for a better 2021.

Haven't bought any kits with a 2020 release but my purchase of the year has to be the Dspaie side cutters. Amazing quality and cut through any plastic I've tried them on smooth as you like.

1/32 Scottish Fishing Boat.
GusMac replied to BigDan's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Hi Carl It's called the Reaper and it's fully seaworthy so it's often out at events around the east coast of Scotland and Northumberland, so it may have been away when you were there. Did you have a fish supper at the Anstruther Fish Bar when you were there? Good evidence as to why we Scots are the heart attack capital of the world! They'll even deep fry you a Mars Bar in Scotland!! -
Yeah, the scale of Texas is mind-boggling by European standards. The distance across Texas west to east is only about 80 km shorter that the distance from where I live in NE Scotland to Most itself!

Congrats on a stunning build. There are still a couple of these around, including one at the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, and you've got the look and weathering spot on. -
Think production is in Obrnice and the warehouse was in Most, so although it's a big blow it should hopefully be recoverable. Boy this Christmas keeps giving......

Was also going to point that out Hubert as I think it reflects the topic of another recent thread! Interesting video though.
