Annealing will also change the colour of certain metals, particularly titanium. Quite often used for jewellery such as earrings. An old friend of mine was the chief jewellery technician at our local art college and told a great story of a student who came back one summer thinking he'd got a great deal on a load of cheap titanium for making stuff. Turned out it was useless as it was 'aviation grade' and was treated in some way that meant you could do what you liked to it but it wasn't going to change in any way!

The Videoaviation stuff is lovely and as you say well worth checking out. I used their Mk 82s on my SLUF and the quality was great, nice resin and no flaws. Delivery from Italy to Scotland was very quick and reasonably priced as well.

I'd say that's pretty impressive for a first try in 30 years! The polyfilla effect for the render works great.

I don't know much about drums Dale but you obviously know quality as Sakae have always had a top end reputation. I thought they'd gone bust but looking online after your post I see they've been resurrected. Always good to see companies with that sort of history managing to stay afloat.

Thanks Rob for the info. Just as a matter of interest how do the AK paints smell when you spray them. I've heard a lot of good things about them and they do seem to have a good range of colours but my wife can't cope with anything too smelly. There's lots of interesting stuff out there on the psychological effects of different colours on mood, etc. Stuff about painting prison cells yellow or pink to reduce aggression and making areas where you don't want people to linger very vivid fluorescent orange. Not sure what this means for the turquoise cockpits? It's not even as though the Soviet cockpits had much glazing so the crews could stare out and avoid it.

Local version of this has the pigs livin' underneath! Is that the same in Texas?

These AMK kits do look sublime but I just can't get into 48th scale. I do wish they would scale them up. The AK paint makes a good match for the Soviet 'barf green' so must remember that. I have used the Citadel paint for that in the past but it goes 'off' in the jar very quickly. Nice start with this Rob.
