  1. I've got the Leo Marriott and Simon Forty book 'Normandy Battlefields: Bocage & Breakout' and it has some great pictures of the effect of this on the Panzer Lehr as the prelude to Operation Cobra west of St Lo. For a unit that only really came into being in early 1944 it was effectively wiped out at least twice before the end of that year!
  2. Never got my head around +90 degree elevation on a gun. What goes up..... etc!?
  3. Glad that disaster was avoided. Almost there now.
  4. Please, please, please be the Spey 'Toom. Been waiting for that since seems like forever. Dying to do a 111 or 43 Squadron bird from Leuchars as I saw them every day as a kid.
  5. Haha, that's just brilliant. Must be a helluva high clay content in that soil, the way he cuts and moulds it. Couldn't do it here - he's probably breached every 'Elf 'n' Safety' rule in the book. Looks a better builder than most of the cowboys around here though!
  6. Your custom mix blue looks spot on as a match for the tail decal. Nice!
  7. You'd hope judges would recognise skill regardless of the medium but unfortunately it's often a case of blindly following 'the Rules!' My son will get his final school Art & Design exam result on Tuesday and although on talent he should get an A, I suspect he may even fail. Reason - he did all the 'drawing' on a digital graphics tablet and his teacher suspects most of the people marking the work won't understand that he still had to draw it, it didn't do it for him. He's not worried as he's into Uni anyway and the skills he's gained will serve him well as his course is in Computer Games Design but it's still frustrating that some educators still seem to be stuck in the 20th Century. Doesn't alter the fact it's still a beautiful piece of work Crazypoet, you should be very proud of it.
  8. SADLY!!! Don't do yourself down. If I'd built something like that once in my lifetime I'd retire happy!
  9. If it's Photoshop Smitty, then Clunk's IT skills are as good as his build skills!
  10. That picture almost looks like it's from the planet Hoth, Martin. Looking out for a snowspeeder somewhere..
  11. Poor show to be that far off even by their standards. Windscreen does look a bit like my late father-in-laws homemade greenhouse though! Functional is probably the polite word for it.
  12. Looking good Ryan. Was gonna post about fitting the spine inserts to the fuselage halves but you've beaten me to it. Doing it as per the instructions is just a shitshow.
  13. 4 little electric motors and just fly the damn thing. We fly smaller things out to the Hebrides here!
  14. Didn't get all the US cartoons over here in the UK when I was a kid, but I always loved Secret Squirrel. The eye holes in the hat just used to crack me up!
  15. Sorry to hear this Jeff. Our two Jack Russells are still pretty young, 8 & 6 yrs, so hopefully got a good bit of time with them but I'm not looking forward to losing them. We've lost 6 cats down the years and they seem to hurt more as we age ourselves. Last one went just over a year ago and I almost filled the hole with tears when I was burying her in the garden. Had to be a deep hole too, otherwise the bl***y dogs would dig her up again!
  16. Joint looks pretty good. Hope the front is glued on well. I've cracked joints like that before trying to scribe over them!
  17. Lovely work with the counterweight Cees. As others have said, I can't criticise, only drool!
  18. I suppose the hope was that nothing from 't'other side' ever got close enough to have a good look and notice the mistake!
  19. Very funny Martin. Surprised there wasn't a PS saying 'no more of the terrible music either please'.
