In this case the lack of detail is accurate! They don't need much. Just a bit of riveting...

Almost ready to close the tail. Just adding some more detail that can be seen through the hole for the tail planes. As you can see I also separated the front nose cowling from the rear:

The Enfield has a pretty good kick in the shoulder but is super accurate, even with the iron sight. My favourite gun at the moment..

There is no easy answer to your question... I always preferred Friulmodel but yes, they are expensive. If you really want plastic, the best second bet are Modelkasten. Easier to assemble, plastic, BUT also pretty expensive. Most Dragon kit have link & length tracks (unless you pick a kit with their patented DS rubber tracks. Nice, but more difficult to sack over the wheels). You could also google for Hobby Boss track links. Very nice and way cheaper: The Pz III, Pz IV, Tiger, etc... all had different tracks and most had early and late within their type. Hope this helps.

Cheers! Yes, it's an original Lee Enfield No4 mk1 Long Branch .303 from 1943. I also own an M1 Carbine from 1943 and a Browning HP 9mm from 1965.

Adding details from the spares box

The tail in this kit is the metal version, but the version I'm making has the wooden tail. This means: - removing some detail on the inside of the tail. You can see in the reference photo that the inside is smooth and bare. - Sanding down all the detail on the hatch and rebuild it with green card. Needs some more work: smoothening out the corners and it needs the two locks. - the detail on the tailwheel assembly is poor... I'm building this from scratch.

Exact! They are black. And the rest of the engine is aluminium that I lightly sprayed and chipped with medium grey to match the photo's. Crawling along!

Wingroots? Who need wing roots when they place the wings on a separate jig?

I will definitely add those pipes! Started painting the engine. First basic colors, some chipping and first wash. I'm trying to match the colors in the reference photo's. Black cover, grey / alu main body, black turbo, brown hoses, etc.. Oils still wet in these pictures.
