smitty44 Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Room blocks open up Friday night. 1 AM Eastern(really Saturday), 12 AM Central, 10 Pacific. Herr Clunk is ready to welcome us with some Texas hospitality. This room availability is much earlier than normal as this was to be the year that covid stole. Ernie says c'mon down now y'all. http://www.nats2023.com/ 3
The Dude Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 So... I understand one of the overflow hotels is Ernie's place? Right on! (The drive isn't too far from the convention center ..) 1 3 1

biggtim Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 He would need his own room for his stash if he were a vendor.... I love that part of Texas, but I honestly don't know if I can handle that place in August. The last time I was in that part of TX, it was June, and San Antonio was like walking on the sun. 1 2
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted August 31, 2022 Administrators Posted August 31, 2022 It IS a hot time of the year, imagine Phoenix with humidity. 3
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted August 31, 2022 Administrators Posted August 31, 2022 If you got a south wind, you can literally cut the air with a knife. So humid a bullet might even leave ripples in the air…. 2 2
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted August 31, 2022 Administrators Posted August 31, 2022 Joy wanted me to post this for y’all regarding the humidity. This was this year on one of our humid days. BIG Texas hair. It’s twice as bad there, so warn y’all’s ladies to bring plenty of ponytail holders, or they’ll look like a triangle with their hair down… 3 1
GazzaS Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Jealous... too far away! I wanna see Ernie's stash, too! 2 2
biggtim Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 Well, to be truthful, Ernie's stash is a 4.5 hrs north from San Marcos, but to a Texan, that's like a quick run to the hardware store! In Texas, you can drive for 12 hours, and still be in the same state. 3
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted September 1, 2022 Administrators Posted September 1, 2022 I’m actually closer to Chicago than I am to El Paso. Texas is HUGE 1 1 2
recon Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Embassy Suites sold out within minutes! I got my reservation. Mike 1
Bomber_County Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 We have an office in Dallas, if this was a few years ago I’d try and wrangle a trip to the office and see if I could join you guys, only a couple of miles down the road…..🤪 1
Martinnfb Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Why is every national IPMSs event hosted in severely harsh climates ? It feels like a contest on its own about who can beat the last year location.

They are overpriced year round actually. . Also the most comfortable places are on the coasts, and they have been shooting for more centralized locations as of late it would seem. 2
Martinnfb Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Maybe its time to look across the ocean and take a hint, Telford, Moshon, E-day , Nuremberg toy fare, etc. are usualy in between the holiday seasons, for a reason and not colliding with each other.

Thinking most of our families would not approve. High desert and the plains aren't necessarily nice in the winter either. The young modelers eould be in school also.
Bomber_County Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Telford is only a two day event and over a weekend, I think Moshon and E-day are as well. Isn’t the US Nats 4 days?
