Peterpools Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Thanks Kev Diane still has more doctor appointments coming up this week and we're waiting for dates for the hopefully last diagnostic procedures and then a planned course to deal with what they find. 2
KevinM Posted June 25, 2023 Author Posted June 25, 2023 Well here's to everything being on the mend and going in the right direction. 3
KevinM Posted June 25, 2023 Author Posted June 25, 2023 This is going slower than expected but I bit the bullet and did a weathering just sloshed the Tamy Brown and let it sit overnight.I think it will pass some areas on the side of the fuse R/side the future was thin and ate through in the sense the more I wiped the stickier it got and went "gotta fix that".I used a sponge and tweezers litely dipped in the respective color and all worked out just did not want brush marks.I usually go semi-gloss but seeing she's been a workhorse since D-day went dead flat.I am about to gloss black the LG(get ready Peter) and do the silver.I still at best guess another week of work on this one little stuff bombs and canopy and weathering the WW always more 4
Peterpools Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Kev Looking good and glad ant issues with the PL wash has been taken care of. I'm ready and waiting for the gear on this gal. 1

KevinM Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 Thks Fellas was beginning to think she was not measuring up seeing I seldom weather I am actually afraid of the process.I was going and looking at more pics of these planes were actually pretty well maintained but not that I saw some used/abused just not many. The LG are painted,Wheels and exhaust. 2
Spitfire Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 That is building up nicely, one of my favourite subjects, the Tempest looks so powerful just sitting on the ground. Cheers Dennis 5

Cheers Dennis Notice how clean the airframe is, and the paint, and then the wing walkway has the foot prints on it. GREAT picture!! The hard edge of the camo is very apparent. Kevin, Nice job on your build, as well. It is coming along very nicely. From these pictures, not sure how much weathering is going to be needed. Chris 1 1
KevinM Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 Alright time to move on fellas to the next project.Peter the inner door actuators kept braking off so made out of .015" guitar string with a brass head then drilled the body of the actuator and just glued to the door only(bad pic).I used Alcad smoke first time ever using it easy just went a little heavy on the R/side of the plane. The bombs got a wash of Tamiya brown right on MrColor and then Tamiya grey wash both done with a q-tip did not touch the paint. Thanks for the likes and interest fellas. 9 1
DocRob Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Fantastic result Kevin, the Tempest shines in all her brute beauty, with your skill full painting and weathering. Cheers Rob 1 1

BlrwestSiR Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Lovely looking Tempest there Kevin. The nacelle bulkheads need a small trim to fit correctly but that's all I've found on my build. 1 1

Ordered a kit off eBay the other night. Hopefully the wife will be too busy with the birthday party for the grands to notice a box on the front porch. What was your choice of wash used? 2
KevinM Posted July 6, 2023 Author Posted July 6, 2023 1 hour ago, ScottsGT said: What was your choice of wash used? Scott I gave the plane about 4/5 coats of future all over and used Tamiya Brown Wash liberally with a 1/2" wide brush let it sit over night but I could of probably come back in an hour.I used the a blue Scott Towel(single layer) ever so slightly damned in paint thinner/turpentine and stroke of course with the airflow but do not stroke too long in any given spot their can be a reaction sometimes.Have Fun Stripes are 9/16"/0.5625"=18" in width for D-day and beyond. 1 1
Peterpools Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Kev Awesome build and she looks fantastic. Thank you so much for all the detail photographs and 'how to' explanations that will surely come into play down the road. 1
