Awesome work for sure and one tough build. Incredible how they screwed up the landing light lenses.

I think the landing light lenses is the least screw-up of the maaaaaaaaany screw-ups the kit embodies ….

Nice job un-screw-upping this one, Scott 😉 !

Here’s my attempt at reproducing wing tip lenses.  I started with a piece of clear corner sprue that I filed flat to fit in the wingtip cutout.
glued it in place and shaped it as best as I could.  The inside of the curve left a gap.

I mixed up some sprue goo using clear sprue and once it melted into a goo I could work with, dabbed a little on the tip of the lens.
Waited a few days and sanded and shaped it as needed.

The replacement light seems to have worked.

You could also try UV gel. That is usually clear as well.

D’oh!  And I’ve got some in my tool box I’ve been saving for a time like this too.

Pitot tube time.  One of my favorite mods!
Take an 18 ga medical needle and cut it down.

music wire that fits inside.

cut and shape with the Dremel, instant pitot tube that won’t snap off if you look at it crosseyed.

The Big Sea Fury ? Well, it's got to be the one of the best piston engine-

all-time cool aircraft out there....Like the Grumman Bearcat...cool-as-hell!

Great work...I'll be watching!

Well, I do have to go play with resetting the fi computer to get it out of the garage soon. My AC system needs replacing and it’s at the end of the garage.
Waiting on quotes and this storm to pass.

Have I mentioned how much I love lacquer paints lately?  Because I really love how they lay down, blend in, dry quickly so no bleeding under the tape lines or running down into panel lines.

Looking very smart, my modelling interests are strictly WW2 but I did build one of those and despite the kits problems it looks pretty awesome on the display cabinet shelf.

Cheers

Quotes are coming in just under $7000.  I actually expected around $10k.  It’s a 3.5 ton, 15-16 seer Heil heat pump.

Seems somehow that all of the planets and stars have formed a perfect alignment.  Or hell froze over. Not sure which, but a guy on LSP has a Fisher prop/spinner he has and is sending me.  Now that will be an awesome addition that will top this build off!

When you get it, you should do a comparison pic so we can see the difference.

As for heat, now that Sept had arrived, we've been getting heat advisories as it's been close to 40°C thanks to some crazy humidity.

Yea, ours “feels like 104” today from humidity.  We leave town next week for a cruise and of course our weather is cooling down, but up in New England where we’re going is expecting a heat wave.
Just walking to the mailbox takes it all out of me in that heat.
