:) Thank you Peter, I am not sure about the final result, the primer is drying as we speak  and  it will expose the imperfections to deal with. But the hardest part is done and I can move to the next step, the dreaded bomb racks. Perhaps I should drop the side step as well, they often flew with it unretracted. as you can see on the pictures below.

Reminds me of that pic of a Navy F-4 on a bombing run with the step ladder down.

Nice stencil work too.

After a little break I am back on it. External bomb racks are shaping out.

.50cal barrels arrived as well.

And the footstep door is in. Needs some cleanup , but it’s there.

Martin,

Looking really good, wow.  Great work on the research and adjustments as well as the creativity in creating the bits you need.  You must have a huge stash of styrene to pull from.  My hats off to you!

EDIT: that giant seam will be covered by a seal plate that will continue all the way to the front, deep breath :)

Our little, liquid cargo shall to be exposed, so I decided to fabricate a rudimentary inner frame for the cockpit hatch?, cover?, cap?, door?.. well, I also added release mechanism and rails for the privacy curtain. I added I check up list in Russian for the pilot’s convenience. (I used a 1/48 scale Cyrillic check-list stencils from Mi-24 )Don’t be alarmed by the wet wash  it will be wiped and all toned down by a coat of satin.

Found this interesting picture with some beautiful details, among others there's a note placed on the perforated part of the cockpit cover.

Fantastic detailing, Martin, this build will be epic. I love the addition of pilots fuel and the hatches inside, not to speak off the bomb racks, phenomenal.

Cheers Rob

Thank you gentlemen for your support. I did a whole bunch of invisible work such as lens and reflex glass on the gun sight, cockpit clean  up including dropping the armour plate. It makes sense to have it down for an easier access. Still working on the edges of the upper canopy frame rails and the related locking mechanism. Stay tuned.
