Soo.... What did you just get???

I actually have two of the Revell kits : A shrink-wrapped Dale Earnhardt Goodwrench Chevy Monte Carlo which shows at 1:24 scale (and is only worth about $25) and a '69 Shelby GT-500 2 in 1 kit which is 1:25 scale.  I might have to get that '72 Petty Charger kit...

I have another one, a Richard Petty 1972 Dodge Charger. Browsing through the sprues shows a promising quality and there are some encouraging build logs out there. I guess, the greatest difficulty will be the body painting, which in both cases is two color, bordered by pinstripe decals, which need to be used as templates for masking.
If I understood right, all the Salvino´s kits are limited to 500 items each, but of course, there are a couple of variants for the same chassis, from different years and with different sponsor decals.
Some of their kits are based on older kits, but the ones I own are new tool by Salvino´s

Cheers Rob

I've always liked the looks of these types of race cars but I was afraid to

do one because of the gloss finishes required, decaling etc. I would

Like to see a build of one of these on the forum.

Normally I'd shy away from a glossy finish but with my recent experience with the X-22 I'm all in.  I've tried waxing and buffing models in the past and that just did not turn out very pleasing.  I'm going to look up a few of the online build threads and see how the builds went and especially the finishes.

Might have to do one of the Revell kits to get a feel for the finish.

Yes, Tamiya X-22 works great.  I use it all the time. I have a few kits

that require gloss finishes I'd love to build. They are kind of small so the

area covered won't be so big and maybe I'll be ok . looking forward to

seeing your work!

I may have shared this before but I started a Monogram stock car years ago. This is as far as I've gotten.

The body shell is pretty much done but I haven't done any work on the chassis. One nice thing about the cars of that era, the margins were all vinyl decals so no need for a clear coat.

To be honest Peter, I would need to find the kit itself. I think the box may still be at my folks' place somewhere but it's not in the stash. If I do find it, then I can certainly look at getting it done.

You saved about two hours of work fixing those kit tails, and the kits exhaust is under sized.  You did good!

It was your recommendation that made me buy them so thanks for the advice.

Lovely to have nice renditions of the old boxtops

Also picked this up for silly cheap , looks like a pantographed  1/72 in it's simplicity . Will be a quick build whenever i get around to it !

Thank you for posting, PW, I knew most of the pictures from their Airfix boxes and they are instant classics. The Zero and the Helldiver, I can´t remember, but I had the B-29 in my clumsy fingers and made a blob of plastic out of the kit :D.

Cheers Rob

Not modeling related, but.......

A new Keurig Supreme plus Coffee Maker...a Vital need for the

home......I did get a few sets of Friulmodel tracks, some paint brushes an

a few Egg Girls but this is by far a priority. Lately, I've been unable to do

any modeling because of a nasty Achilles tendon injury. I have to keep my

leg elevated and immobile. Coffee is a huge part of my life since I was

about 12. Anyway this thing is awesome...best coffee ever! It has been Impossible for

me to get back to my home to do any work.....Stuck at Mom's where I've

been for most of this year due to her injuries. So, I stay up late and read. I did go for a drive today, but it proved to be a bad

idea. Maybe things will get better by next week.

My wife Sue can't go without her coffee. Such that I got her a tee shirt which says "Coffee makes me less murdery" and she loved it.

Paul, sorry to hear about your leg and Mom, hopefully things get better for both of you.
