denders Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Oh yeah, my wife has suggested that perhaps I need a larger vehicle. 1
BlrwestSiR Posted August 16 Posted August 16 (edited) A nearby Gunpla shop was having their anniversary sale So I picked up a few items. They had a huge discount on Dspiae paints and thinners. The leveling thinner is pretty much the same as Mr Color Leveling Thinner but even not on sale, it's cheaper. I also bought 3 bottle of their Tool Cleaner. Despair paint is lacquer based and has a fine pigment to it so I picked up some colours for my car models. So several metallics and pearls. A couple flip paints too so we'll see how they work I also picked up some paint markers. Lastly, since they're a Gunpla store it would be rude not to get a Gundam kit. Was that the one in VA Beach? Is it there every year? Once my kids are out of the house, I'm going to try to make it to a show. By then, hopefully the stash will be a little smaller so I won't feel as bad adding to it.
belugawhaleman Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Some odd items today...... First; a couple of track sets from Friulmodel From Archer Fine Transfers; ART8810 Surface details Fabric Weave Texture. For an upcoming project. I don't know the current status of Archer .I hope someone restarts their product line. Pretty cool stuff. My Hobby boss 1/16 38 (t) has a featureless shell catch bag. I hope this will fix that. Next; another Oldie from Tamiya. Their M3 Grant MkI (35041) This is a 2013 re-boxing of a kit that dates back to 1974 I know this kit has its problems, but really it doesn't look that bad. And it probably will build up quickly. Also, a set of tiny magnets bought off of Amazon. 100 2mm x 1mm round, flat disc magnets. Last a hobby knife from DSPIAE AK-DKO2 NARROW BLADE HOBBY KNIFE. These things are very nice. Much nicer than the Knock-off x-acto type handles I've been using....(I'll still use the old ones however, because I have a huge supply of #11 blades.) Well, that's all for now. I have a couple of things on the way from overseas . a Plaza Japan order has been held up a week because of their OBON holiday...but that's fine. Again, I hope someone finds this post useful😀 2

It's in a different location each year. It was in Madison, WI last year, this year Hampton, VA, next year Fort Wayne, IN (2026), and Huntsville, AL in 2027. One of the things I enjoy is meeting other LSP or LSM participants. I met Phantom (Mike), Bob (not sure his username on here, BiggTim (Tim), and Radub (Radu) last year. I saw Mike, Bob, and Radu this year and met Mark (Dodgem37) this year. Mike, Bob, Radu, and I had dinner with some other folks on Friday evening. I was hoping to meet a few of the others who were there this year. Hopefully will meet others next year. Edit: Oops, Mike is Recon on LSM, IIRC. 2
Artful69 Posted Friday at 12:41 PM Posted Friday at 12:41 PM Well ... It's been a hot minute! ... So much has happened in the last few months and I think my last post was in my house build thread ... Stay tuned on that one for more posts later in the year! ... I was moved on from my FIFO cleaning job in November last year, My Fiancé Jane had her Subclass 300 visa approved a couple of days later and she arrived here from the Philippines in early January. Meanwhile the house was handed over the week before Christmas and I moved in on 23rd December. Jane has been steadily adjusting to the "Aussie" way of life and is looking forward to getting into the world of modelling herself (when we have space to do so!) - apparently she wants to try her hand at building a tank! I'll have her post a WIP when we finally get cooking! (I'm really looking forward to getting back to work on my F1 cars!). I started work with my old employer in the week that my house was handed over and since then we've been slowly getting settled although the house still looks more like a storage facility than a house ... Jane and I had to get married within the visa timeline and we wanted to get sorted before the new financial year visa price increases anyway ... so we got married on 31st May ... Janes Subclass 820 visa was approved before the end of July! ... A bunch of time and expenses that were not dedicated to the house - so we're only now turning our attentions to that ... That does not mean however, is that kit purchases have taken a back seat!! 😉 ... First up ... If Airfix keep making decent 1/24 kits, I'll keep getting them ... Can't find a Hellcat for sale anywhere though, So waiting for a re-pop for that one. The latest Kotare Spitfires arrived off preorder ... As always ... 2 kits minimum ... one to build, one to collect. Meanwhile ZM released their latest 48th Phantom ... I wonder if they're going to release the UK Rolls Royce versions?? 🤔 Any opportunity to grab another A-20 and I'm in! Kotare's 1st non Spitfire kit looks to be a winner ... Looking forward to the VB and the PR Mk.I kits now on preorder ... Apparently Borders version of the Upkeep Lancaster is better than the HKM one ... As I have both now (thanks to a sale that saw me save about 10% off the ticket price) I get to have a close comparison 😁 ZM's new Ho.229B ... Not sure what inspired this kit from ZM ... but its another in the collections so 🤷♂️ Someone mentioned that the MTO boxing of the B-25 has fixed prop blades ... Dunno if that's actually the case but since this is the version that I wanted to build anyway, markings are in the box Oh ... and some more tanks! 😁 More soon ... and more WIP pics for the new house soon too! Spitfire Posted Friday at 05:49 PM Posted Friday at 05:49 PM Well as I dislike decals I just had to get these, the kit certainly deserves them. Cheers Dennis 6

PanzerWomble Posted Saturday at 09:32 AM Posted Saturday at 09:32 AM Not so much bought as made ,a paint stand to do OPR & what is OPR ? I took lessons from Mike Rinaldi on this technique via his Patreon , and believe it is one of the most powerful techniques to learn, after being recommended by NMAYHEW on this forum (cheers !) In another note , I see Martin Kovacs has finally noticed oil dot modulation in his latest video , which is similar but less controlled ....and about 7 years after Evan at PM36 was making videos about it ...nothing new huh ? 3 1
